I'm so sick of everything trying to data harvest. I connected all my TVs to the WiFi long enough to get their MAC address, then put a MAC block on them just in case by some way they connect to the internet again. That includes one LG. Fuck smart TVs too. I want dumb displays of what they are fed.
Who's going to set up wifi on their computer monitor? Your computer is better at everything. So they can AI transcribe the text on your screen all they want, but there's no way to send it back.
USB gives them communication. Have one device profile for the monitor, another for the spyware communication.

Who knows. They put WiFi in everything now, so some crazy person will sign up for some hypothetical LG Smart Monitor so they can get an app that lets them see if their monitor is on or not when they are gone. Don't underestimate the amount of people that will do dumb things like that.
My refrigerator has some sort of WiFi option despite so screen or anything. It's not a complicated refrigerator, I don't even know what the WiFi would offer me as I've never connected it. But it gives them their data, and we've seen examples of AC thermostats being adjusted by the power companies before, so I can just see "we turned off your fridge because our AI datacenter needed the power, cough. erm., we mean for climate change."
The washer/dryer set I just bought has the same thing going on. The salesman told me that it connects to an app that will tell you when your laundry is done, as if that meaningfully adds to the jingle it does when it's finished. It also has an "AI wash" mode that I assume requires wifi. I assume it's there to steal retards' data because the normal cycle works just fine. I also noticed that the refrigerator that came with my condo also hooks up to wifi. I don't even know how to hook it up and I certainly don't plan on finding out.
Don't worry: If it can connect to the internet wirelessly, but you don't manually set it up, it still will send it, just more subtly. Perhaps a direct Starlink connection it auto-picks-up, or a cellular tower internet the company made a deal with: All your data is in text files, it doesn't take much bandwidth to send.

They’re typically more expensive because tv producers are able to keep their prices low because of the data harvest. I remember reading that one company takes a loss on every tv they sell and make up the loss with the personal data they sell

No, LG is abusing Windows Update to push their adware as a device app when Windows detects the monitor automatically whether it's HDMI or DisplayPort.

I'll have to watch, funny enough the only LG monitor I have is on the only Windows PC I have. But it's not super modern, 2018ish I think maybe.

Commercial displays are meamt to be on the same image for hours at a time wirhout burningin. Slight use case difference aside from data collection.
