They're going to end up ruining that word too and render it useless. When a 21yo dude at the beach who sees the 17yo girl in a bikini and thinks she's hot is called a pedo, or the 39yo guy who's dating a 23yo and is also called one, the word has basically stopped meaning anything. Which is a problem, because it also stops carrying any real bite for the ones that actually are.
Exactly. When I saw the right nodding along and not speaking up when Leo Dicaprio is called a pedo for liking to date young attractive women; aka the behavior of all men in Hollywood forever, it was really disturbing.
The reality is the ideal is like in the Biblical times. When a man is financially stable at around 18 - early 20s, he marries a girl who is about 15 or so.
Now that would be called peodphilia today, but the alternative of women not being led by a man, but stay single and get their ideas coming from society and feminism and college marxism is a horrific alternative.
It's frustrating that I even have to say this, but this isn't me being like the infiltrators who talk about Brooke Shields. Again, the ideal is once a man becomes financially stable aka able to sustain wife and kids, marries a 15 year old or so which was not considered a child in most of human history.
Not some 30s or older guy creepily being attracted to a 12 year old. That's what pedo defenders who come in here want.
What I'm saying is the ideal is no sex outside of marriage like God ordained and a man who is old enough to know things and has some degree of wisdom as men are less hoodwinked and decieved by garbage guides his wife in righteousness and godliness as the leader.
The alternative of women marrying in their 20s as default after their mind has already been pumped full of secular thought is not the ideal.
I'm not going to get married so this is not personal to me, and as a Christian I'm not allowed to have sex as a single man. So this isn't some ulterior motive. I just think it's crazy to call it pedophilia when like you said the 17 year old example or when you have Joseph being likely late teens to early 20s and Mary likely being in the mid-teens and while God calls them righteous, modern day people would call Joseph a pedophile and Mary a victim which if you're calling something evil that God has blessed, that's dangerous territory. And Joseph and Mary were not the exception, this was the default for most of human history.
This shows how the sensibilities around this topic has gotten totally screwed up, just like how the word racist has no meaning any more.
Again the distinction between what I'm saying and the guy who comes here and tries to talk about Brooke Shields and stuff like that is important. I'm saying, don't lust after anyone except for your wife in marriage. The pedo's who try to push stuff here every so often try to promote the "attractiveness of child actresses" which is just them trying to paint this board as a pro-pedo board. And it's unfortunate I have to qualify this so much because society doesn't make the distinction between the two and will even jump to Leo dating a 20 year old as pedophilia an idea that would have seemed ludicrous even 10 years ago outside the most fringe feminist circles as that's what most successful Hollywood men did.
The reason a lot of people want to become famous is so when they're 50 they don't have to settle for a 50 year old woman, but can score 20 year old models.
I've pretty much come to the conclusion that if all of human civilization thought a certain way for 99% of our existence worldwide, with the West in the 20th century and beyond thinking something opposite, it's the West in the 20th century that is wrong. Whether peoples and races should be separate, how to defend a nation from invasion, the role of women, the role of marriage, and yes the age of marriage as well like you said. The entire 20th century seems to be mostly the West forgetting lessons that everyone knew for thousands of years, and the 21st century seems to be us dealing with the fallout from that and slowly and painfully having to relearn those lessons.
At this point if someone tells me "My great grandfather thought X, but I think Y" my automatic response without even having to hear more is that your great grandfather was right and you're an idiot.
And every single one of us has great grandparents and great great grandparents and beyond would would look at arranging a marriage between their 15yo daughter and the 21yo son of a tanner or a rancher as not just normal, but not doing it would be weird and unseemly.
It's always interesting how you can still see vestigial remnants of ancient wisdom that have carried over to modern times but without their inherent meaning, like a Chesterton's Fence. Like how Japan calls women who are over 25 "Christmas Cake" because they know that is an age where she is far too old to be a good marriage prospect, or how in a lot of states, they still have laws that say 16 year olds can get married. Because back before the 20th century, when progressivism cut a deadly swath through all of American culture, that was normal and everyone going back 500 generations knew it.
Even shit like brides wearing white to show they're still a pure virgin and fathers giving daughters away at a wedding were from a time when that stuff actually meant something. Now people just look at them like weird quirky traditions, but they came from wiser times when those symbols held real and important meaning. A girl is not supposed to have been even romantically involved with a boy ever before her wedding, and she was property of her father being handed over to be property of her husband. Now the idea that a girl will even make it through high school without learning how to suck dick like a porn star is seen as weird and outdated, and 25 is the age where western women start looking for a husband. Everything is fucking backwards and wrong.
The stuff we think is gross and weird our great grandparents would think are normal and right. And the stuff we think is normal and right our great grandparents would be utterly horrified and disgusted by.

Speaking of quirky traditions, want to know why the groom stands on the right from the audience's perspective? It's so his sword hand is free to defend from rival suitors out to steal his bride. Same reason why weddings have groomsmen and bridesmaids; the former to help protect the groom, and the latter to obfuscate who's the bride.
Weddings were serious fucking business, not like the glorified parties they are now.
Oh, boy, bit of a trauma dump incoming. I have a college ex who is the personification of "no real father, raised by social media". At 21 she wanted to be the strong, independent businesswoman with a husband and kids, too. At 27 she was a childfree cocaine addicted Jewish rabbi-in-training who was in an open marriage. At 34, she decided she wanted to settle down, and while it took her some time, she found Billy Betabuxx and is now a "urban homesteader" and a "mommy influencer". She wants nothing to do with either her biological dad or her stepdad who raised her, and the wedding was done at a state park by a non-denominational pastor, because she refused to become a member of any actual church.
Had there been a truly strong and empowered male in this girl's life, she could have been a force for creation and strengthening our country. Instead, feminism and social media has rotted her to the point that she's a caricature, with no real worth. It would be better for her and the vast majority of people who have been in her life if she had been handed off to a good husband at 18, or even instructed to keep her eyes open and legs closed during her college years.

Ruined, probably. Whore, not as far as I can tell. But in the modern feminist tradition, her mom decided that daughter needed to "live her best life" and "find herself" instead of getting married.
In Biblical times it would generally be closer to 30 for the men and 15-18 for the women to get married off. The pretty ones going the youngest for sure though. If your family was rich an 18 year-old boy could have "the pick of the litter" eh?
This is in the bible too: "If you have an orphaned daughter among you? It is better for her to marry an older man than to become a harlot."
This could mean a girl as young as 14 (maybe less) and a man past 40 :/ possibly a widower.
On must ask themselves; do I believe the Bible is true and the Word of God? Like actually believe it. Not just the parts your like or the parts you're comfortable with, the parts that feel good to modern sensibilities, and so on. Do ones believe in God, does one really believe He is infinitely good and right, and whatever He says is completely true? Or are they someone who kind of likes feeling like they believe some of the more encouraging sounding poetics of it, but deep down they don't really care or believe in it?
Of course the left has been chanting "Feel! Don't think!" but I think (feel too) that thinking about one's spirituality is a very good idea.
Science keeps saying meditation is good for us, like prayers for example. The left wants to exclude those & focus on hippy-dippy stuff, of course.
Being a Deist, I get to believe in God (the All Creator) and just consider things like Bibles and Holy Persons as options. Advice. Literalists are generally a sad lot, I find. Or rabid zealots like 90% of Muslims...
Things make sense when you realize this is how women see things.
