That $1500 gaming desk looks suspiciously like my much cheaper Ikea desk with the power strip I attached to the bottom myself. And minus a spiraly cord that looks like it's only there to make gam3rs feel 1337. Since I don't have a giant tower on it, I even get space for some nice speakers. I know, that's not gamer either to not have a latency reduced tuned headset.
Aesthetics are really important to newly rich. I deal with them a lot in the design business.

That still looks just like mine minus mainly the fancy power cable, which while actually a cool idea to be a coil, I'd never want a red one to stand out and show off my gamer-ness. Granted, you're talking to someone who's gaming PC is the most unassuming looking HTPC that addresses all the problems the big Linus Tech Tips acolytes would demand is impossible in a small case.
Oh and I don't have a headset hanger, but I actually put one on my upstairs desk a few weeks ago. 3D printing is so useful.
You're paying a lot for the motorized standing desk mechanism. The IKEA equivalents are still $600-800.
But yeah, Herman Miller definitely has a price premium. Apparently there's also "Gaming" variant of the Aeron chair coming in at $2k. It seems like "can lean forward slightly harder" is the main difference from the boring old office version.
Haha, yeah honestly I was probably commenting on the gamer tax mostly. That goes way back, so many things branded gam1ng (gotta get those numbers in there) and such started in the early 2000s. My standing desk was $600 I think the Ikea one that is really close to that especially with the mods I did under it to hold stuff and it sit/stand.
I like Herman Miller chairs alright enough, I've had them at work in the past. The real secret to a chair is discarded office supply. I've had this $50 Steelcase Leap I bought from some guy that cleans out office remodels for at least ten years now. It's still so solid, and I've abused it. I do need to replace the height tube, which seems easy enough but I'm going to have to figure out some way to get the old one out, it's really stuck in there.
How long would it take to fabricate a 3D printed house? My brother makes little niknats and those take 8 hrs. at best.
It's an inch each layer so it goes sa little faster. About 12-36 hours for one home.
I can only imagine. I've been making some things ironically for desk organization, and these stupid little mini-PC mounting brackets I'm making take three hours for something simple and small.
The concepts I've seen for large building type 3D printing really would be better for small utility buildings and such. I think they want to solve houses because it's one of those "look we solved the housing crisis!" or like the Japan article, someone doing as a cool novelty.
