There are numerous feminist thinkpieces about Obsession online. The film is obviously about male entitlement and consent. That's why the target of his romantic wish inexplicably "wakes up" every now and then to remind the audience that she did not consent to the relationship.
You are a reliable inverse weathervane; if you're saying it isn't so, then it usually is so.
Just want to point out there are, "numerous thinkpieces about Bayonetta being a gay icon," online. Doesn't mean it was ever intended or even true. You probably shouldn't base your worldview on how your enemies see it.
I’ll put it to you this way: initial trailers for Obsession did not reveal the supernatural monkey paw wish angle, but I knew that they would find a way to blame the man. Because a horror movie about a woman who is just a crazy bitch and not a victim doesn’t get good reviews from modern critics.
From what I've read about it, the movie is pushing two themes. One, that ALL men are toxic, misogynist, and horny. All of them, no exceptions! Even the friendly ones you've known for years; give them half a chance, and they'll rape you for all you're worth!
And two, that when women do bad things, it's still all men's fault.
Obsession is feminist horror.
