Either "fighting words" are a thing, and this is the modern equivalent of a duel that the nigger lost, or "fighting words" aren't a thing, and the nigger attacked the man for saying no-no words that hurt his feefees, which is perfectly normal grounds for self defense.

I've lived in big cities for way too many years of my life, and the number of times some random retard decided to hurl insults at me for my skin color is (perhaps unsurprisingly) fairly high, and I've never let the sudden urge to smash the brownoid's skull in manifest itself in real action, because that's not what a civilized human being bloody well does.
