sf6 is the one with the biggest reach and appeal, and even their highest profile players are getting sick of the game
tekken 8 is a dumpster fire the and the devs continue to double down on decisions that people absolutely do not want
guilty gear is doing ok, but strive is a far departure from classic guilty gear so that fanbase is kinda split in two groups
marvel vs capcom 3 is the only one that still gets played somewhat. marvel infinite has come and gone. true test for Tokon would be it doesn't go down the same path as marvel infinite
dbfz started out great and ended in disaster
2xko had so much potential but it's been killed of any momentum upon its official release
smash bros has the biggest tranny and pedo community in all of gaming
kof and cotw are solid, but because so many of the FGC are hardcore socialists, they are boycotting anything SNK related because of their Saudi ownership-connection
virtua fighter 6 had promise, but the vf5 revo worldstage update destroyed any hope with how backwards the online matchmaking, lobbies, and game system changes have been
dead or alive 7 also was hopeful, but the doa6 last round announcement make the future of this series worrisome
Smash Bros is one of Nintendo's biggest series. And don't go saying "Smash isn't a fighting game!" because it 100% is. They changed things to appeal to a much wider audience and lowered the barrier of entry.
Smash Bros got to where it is because nostalgia-addled Nintendies like watching their favorite action figures whacking each other. All the other Smash-likes were dead on arrival.
Why exactly are people still trusting Arc System after the shit they pulled with Guilty Gear Strive anyways? They should be on most people's shit list, especially the people here.
That's true. Just amazes me, everyone here was rightfully pissed at Arc System for making Testament "Non-binary", and Bridget a tranny yet some of the dudes that were pissed are just brushing it off and excited for Tokon, a fucking modern Marvel game.
As someone who's been playing fighting games for a long time now, this is true and anyone who thinks they can break through to mainstream adoption is absolutely fucking nuts. You have to be at least a little bit of a masochist to get anywhere in the genre because the time investment to grind through loss after loss after loss in order to scrape you way up to being a mediocre player is demoralizing enough to make the vast majority of people quit. The genre is simply a house of pain and suffering that most people aren't willing to endure. On the other side though, it offers some truly unique experiences in the form of mind reading and the ability to outright crush another person's spirit.
Marvel Tokon is probably their best chance at having a solid game this year
fighting games have gone to shit

Well when you put it like that lol
Fighting games have extremely limited appeal.

Yup. And there's little or no crossover between smash and any other fighter.
Smash isn't a fighting game. :)

There aren't any other fighting game studios that will whore themselves out for licensed cash grabs like Arc will.
