Link is to a 4chan /v/ thread about the shutdown of both the Stormforge and Turtle WoW server groups today.
Turtle offered a Classic Extended experience running what I think might have been a Wrath client but still remaining in Vanilla content, so no TBC, no Wrath, although there were additional races such as High Elves for the Alliance, and Jews~ Goblins for Horde.
There is a long history of drama surrounding the lead devs of Turtle WoW, and some of the claims made in that thread appear to suggest it was downright retardedness that may have brought them down as previously little had been done about their presence.
bought youtube ads and @'d blizzard on twatter
Stormforge was currently running in Wrath from what I can see albeit with additional features and raids, something many private servers have done when not just running their own versions of older content.
Whether other servers are going to be affected remains to be seen.

Running Youtube ads and poking the bear on Twitter by @blizzard tweets. Would have just been a matter of time until Blizzard went after them but that idiocy fueled by pure greed hastened their demise.
I tried out Turtle a while back last year, it was ok, but reminded me why I didn't ever go back to playing Classic or other earlier servers as time passed. Namely the sheer simplicity most classes were back then and how your rotation could very well be spamming 1 ability until the boss died, you died, or the server died.
Playing Legion then Dragonflight most recently probably spoiled me as they were just faster paced and more engaging, albeit at the cost of pants on head stupidly easy boss telegraphing where some wouldn't stfu because they used an ability every few seconds.
This was one of the consequences of Blizz wanting to move away from everyone using addons to coordinate fights. Problem was it just meant very dialogue heavy fights.
old MMOs are really internet hangouts with a grind mini-games playing in the background. That's what they always were and always should be. Something you do half-heartedly while you sit on VC of your choice. Problems started when hardcores were too hardcore for their own good and decided the game needs to be more difficult because making things difficult is the only way to make things more fun... or so the logic goes. What happens instead is the game changes from RPG to action game with floating numbers.
Its a Shame though, despite the server run by trannies they did make it an ideal Classic+ experience with added new zones, quests, gear and abilities
Unfortunately to all things come to an end, i haven't played Turtle WoW in literally years (since the hardcore craze) but in comparison to the Vanilla classic it absolutely blew blizzard away
Granted i'm sure the troons will use a workaround because it doesn't take a genius to make a private server of a 20 year old game

It does if you plan on making shekels from it...
Just ignore the cease and desist, who gives a shit. Its just a strongly-worded letter.
Let them sue and when its finally heard in 5+ years, just close it down and reopen under a new name
Dont understand peopel, really.
