I get so sick of people justifying things because of "safety". You don't have a right to safety; no one does. You have the right to take care of yourself, that's it.
According to the UNs Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and FDR "Freedom from fear" is one of the four fundamental rights of everyone. Which means someone has to protect you from what you are scared of.
I believe the opposite paradigm is "Freedom to act" meaning everyone has an opportunity to try most things they want to do.
I think the freedom from/freedom to isn't debated enough in Western civilization
