Ok, I read through the article twice and never saw what the actual evidence was.
I don't disbelieve that there were Chinese ranch workers or even owners. But I absolutely loathe the people who care about this sort of shit; and even worse, spend my fucking tax dollars with the express intent of trying to diminish the accomplishments of white people.
So what they are telling me is the narrative of evil racist whites forcing down the Chinese immigrants is actually just BS, and in fact Chinese people were able to overcome their poorness, buy ranches, and assimilate with the rest of the cowboys normally?
Not surprising. History is far less "racist" than people would like you to believe. There were White ranchers, Black ranchers, Mexican ranchers, Native American ranchers. Not surprising there were Chinese ones too. You're talking about a bunch of self-sufficient guys doing hard work. Groups like that are fine with anyone who pulls their own weight.
It's the cities, where people formed ethnic enclaves that things go wrong.
They were blocked from coming, then allowed in to help build the railroads, then blocked again soon after :/
There were hundreds, if not thousands of ethnic Chinese out West working the railroads & once that dried up? No doubt many stayed on ranches.
Western 'cowboys' were very inclusive, merit based. If you did the work & weren't a big jerk? Welcome in!

Chinese stole the land from the natives.
Given the story is on Fox News, I would say that is what they are selling
Fox news is woke.
Agreed, they have always been liberal. It's funny to watch normies yell about far right Fox news.
Is this guerilla marketing for a new Shanghai Noon?
“Do not forsake me, oh my jade-like beauty…”
I know they worked on the railroads. Didn’t know there were cowboys. Guess it’s possible
I don't know about you but I pictured a Chinese guy singing "Don't Fence Me In" in a heavily accented voice
Love that song
Didn't go back to China after the railroads were completed

Doubt lol. People still had strong ethnic affiliations, especially in dangerous conflict areas like the frontier.
Good point. I’ve noticed that as well
This is "hidden history?" I mean, those dirty Celestials were in Deadwood, fer crissakes.
Nah.
Didn’t Ween have a song about this?
