It is a UK problem it should be the UK army dealing with this, the French are shooting themselves in the foot by stopping those boats.
I doubt this had anything to do with pressure from the UK government despite what the BBC says and is more France trying to show SOME relevance after repeated humiliations from both Trump and Putin on the global stage.
