Kurt Russell seems to be more conservative than the majority of Hollywood. I remember Soldier and remember it having a strong sense of self-reliance themes in it.
And yeah the article explores that as part of it, but there's more to it. Even subtle things that are the opposite of how leftist Hollywood does things
There's a scene where you can see a Blade Runner spinner (flying car) among the junk. Some have insisted that this movie is unofficially tied to the Blade Runner universe. The movies had the same co-writer and the soldiers themselves had a history of fighting in the same wars Roy Batty mentioned (Tannhäuser Gate, Shoulder of Orion). The director admitted he intended this.
I remember not liking this very much on release, but I'll give it another go. Probably because Russell is supposed to behave like a robot vs all his other iconic roles.
The story which I am currently writing actually draws some inspiration from this movie. I remember my dad renting it a few times as a kid, and I never heard anyone else even reference it for years afterwards.
There's a YouTuber called Space Ice he reviews action movies with a ultra macho movie trailer type voice and over the top dialouge. They are usually around 15 minutes and are funny

I suggest the double feature of Overboard followed by Captain Ron, though I believe Captain Ron to be the prequel.
Yea. That movie was pretty good. It had all the good tropes from the 90s and had great actors in it.
Sad part was when garey busey gets shot =(.
AFAIK the main character in that film has lines measured in the dozens

When you publish it or are done with the writing, send me a PM. I'd love to read it!
Sure thing :D I'll probably actually make a thread about it on this forum when the time comes.
Don't forget to watch the Space Ice version after rewatching the original.
You're the second person I've seen reference that. What does that mean?

I need to see this
I went and saw this in the theater. I didn't think much of it.
