And she was allowed standard serve rules? Why the fuck would she have let herself be embarrassed like that? That's so much worse than just losing. (EDIT: She was also allowed only one serve, but that's still a massive advantage to her, as a man's first serve is massively more threatening than a woman's. Not having a second serve shuts that down.)
Holy shit, I'm pissed off.
We all knew he'd win, that fact that they wouldn't even let it happen fair and square is actually pretty enraging. What an actual abomination.
I guess the only saving grace for her is that she didn't win, that would have actually been more embarrassing.
I don't even regularly watch tennis, but for some reason this is really fucking pissing me off.

I had to look this up to understand it. For anyone else confused: if you fault on your first serve, you get a second. If you fault again, you lose the point. So people go all out on the first one. If they get a fault, they do a more careful one because of the risk of losing the point. For this match they changed it to fault once and lose the point. This change to the rules made them both rein in their ONLY serves but obviously he's going to be sacrificing way more power between all-out and precision.
You ask why she allowed herself to be embarrassed? It's probably because she thought without his first serve she had a chance. I bet she didn't think she'd lose.
Desired effect. Be aware that the point of that contest was never to prove some silly liberal point but because both the organizers and spectators are so far gone in their snark, nihilism and cynicism that watching humiliation rituals is the only thing that makes them feel anything. Then there are those who watch you watch them and derive pleasure from seeing your angry comments.
I suggest you check out from gentle society and go build a shack in the woods. Better way to channel your energy.
For fucking real?!

It's probably because she got paid a fuckload of money by Emirates NBD.
I'M MAD!

Yep, I'm somewhat ashamed to admit it took me this long, and to my credit I stayed off twitter/x until the last couple of years...but..
It dawned on me after some article got me enraged, that THAT was the point of it. Its all for engagement, ragegagment if you will.
Why engage with something designed and engineered to make you feel bad emotions? Although its a great test to see how centered you are.
Feel calm? Just check out X. Still calm? You're a buddha.
