it's a foreign government with no jurisdiction over you anyway, the only response to a foreign government fining you is to tell them to go pound sand.

Many US tech companies surrendered to the UK’s demands

That's because they are in ideological agreement with the UK government, not because they feared its wrath.

The shouldn't have a choice in the matter.

They had a choice before the online safety act was even a thing. The often maligned phrase "It's a private company. They can do what they want." is still true. It's the only alternative to "bake that cake, bigot" that there is.

They aren't private companies when they are doing what they're told whether its by banks or the state.

That isn't what "private" means. And it makes a great difference whether the command is coming from the banks or the state. One is literally prohibited in the constitution, and the other is not.

Do you think the baker in Colorado was obligated to bake that cake a few years ago? Because that's what you are arguing here.

This bill doesn't go far enough IMO but it is better than nothing. This it sort of the reason we have a government in the first place, to protect our people from outside attacks. A foreign gov violating our rights makes them an enemy.

Or we could go exercise 2nd amendment rights in their country since they think they're allowed to do anything in ours.

If I was emperor, my response would be to tell them that any fines issued to US citizens or companies will be paid by the government, and payment would be delivered directly to the OFCOM office via predator drone.

I appreciate the talk of it being a red line. What was missing was the "or else" part.

How about we also ban all private corporations from spying on citizens via smart tech, especially if that data is being used to make millions of dollars just to be ZOG’s source of spying illegally on its own citizens? Time to make some real progress…..but the above policy won’t ever pass, nor will what I just said because ZOG is both the j’w owned mega corporations and j’w owned government working together to control us in ways they can sort of claim are legal, and they won’t ever stop working together to control us until they become afraid of the citizenry. The fucked part is, I can’t just set up a camera and aim it at my neighbors windows to watch her ass and study everything she does, that would be breaking peeping tom laws, and I would go to jail…..but when it’s a j’w run corporation, they can use the phone I bought to listen, watch and track everything I do around/on my phone, and somehow that’s completely legal because of some fine print in an agreement you have to agree to in order to use the product you bought, the same agreement that’s used on every smart phone so it can’t be avoided if you want to own a smart phone.

And it's worth mentioning that almost every job requires that you have a smart phone so it isn't even a choice

This law doesn't actually need to exist, since there's legal precedent to simply put together an invasion force, travel to any country that extorts Americans and bomb their cities to rubble. But since we're at this point, might as well have it set in stone.

Translation: US government will not be doing this because it is owned by a foreign country.
