If Kryptonian DNA is somehow empowered by solar radiation instead of denatured/destroyed by it, they would be fair-skinned to absorb as much sunlight as possible.
And a mermaid needing melanin is even less logical than a black Norse god.
Or a black Kryptonian who derives power from absorbing sunlight.
