I also got "bake the cake" vibes from this story. I've never been to build-a-bear, but it sounds like naming the bear involves custom work.
if that's the case, then it still holds that no custom shop should ever be compelled to do a custom work if they are not comfortable with it. the shop is definitely being petty, but as far as the law is concerned they should win any legal action.
The bakery it's easy to prove they TARGETED that bakery in particular because they were Christian as they didn't try an Islamic or Jewish bakery or even a non affiliated one.
Here, it's extremely hard to prove anything and that name would seem normal to most as not like they're trying to call the bear Adolf Hitler.
Crowder tried askig muslim-owned bakeries to make him a custom gay wedding themed cake and several refused. We all know why the wokies targetted a christian bakeries hundreds of miles away.
This is one of those times when you have a choice between being principled and making the left see a downside to the shit they pull. The right always chooses the first option and things won't start getting better until we start choosing the second.
In a vacuum I agree, every interaction should be voluntary. But we all know that is a principle the left doesn't apply, while us more fair minded folks try to behave with principles and we get bullied by the left.
Trying to force a Christian bakery to make a highly blasphemous, insulting cake : "what's wrong bigot!? You should give your labour to everyone!"
Just putting a normal name on a teddy bear that references a normal but known guy: "RRREEEEEEEEEE!"
I can’t imagine being that bakery owner. I’d sooner burn the place to the ground with myself in it then serve those vicious people
That's still a win for the demons.
Just make a really shitty cake instead but charge them top price. Taste is subjective!
(this is going to be unpopular here)

Agreed, but unlike the bakery build-a-bear is a national franchise which most likely has anti-discrimination policies in place
That and it's a lot harder to prove malice.

the reason I hate the left is because they are moral busy bodies that won't leave us alone. if the right becomes exactly that, I will hate them too.
