This patent is so overreaching it encompasses RTS games, MMORPGs (think Hunters and Warlocks in WoW), JRPGs (Summons, Guardian Forces, etc.)... it boggles the mind. Technically, this would hit things like Hearthstone and MTG too. Apparently, the patent was issued with no comment too. Ridiculous.
They're kinda clutching at straws, patenting EVERYTHING related to their games...
...because apparently their lawsuit against Palworld is going badly, EVEN though it's in Japan where they should have the advantage.
The guys who made Palworld are the most unbelievably plucky and resilient developer in history.
It is? I can see why they are sticking to patenting it in the US, since that seems to be where Palworld derives much of it's support from.
Isn't that just Red Alert and other RTS games?
And JRPGs and piles of sadly profitable gatchaslop.

WoW is now owned by Microsoft, I dare Nintendo to try suing them.
Just more evidence that the Patent system is woefully under equipped to handle things in the digital age with anything approaching a degree of sanity.
The Patent office is - this is an invalid patent that should never have been granted.
Nintendoes what Nintenshouldnlt.
Doesn't prior art apply here?
also how do I get in on these ridiculous patent scams?
