Thank you for your continued support of the Good Smile Company Online Store.Following the announcement made by Japan Post on 30th July 2025, regarding the U.S. Government’s executive order to suspend de minimis treatment, Japan Post has suspended acc...
This is just basic fixing of a blatantly broken system that had a bunch of companies exploiting a loophole and consumers are mad about it.
Norwegian post did the same. Funny thing, we removed this in Norway several years ago. No one refuses to ship to Norway, and the post started doing customs on all packages immediately.
Doesn't really matter. Just temporary by their own admission until they can get a little clarification on how it's going to work. Not to mention every day they keep it suspended they're going to be slowly choked by the pressure of all their many companies that rely on US exports for a big chunk of their bottom line. It'll last a month at most I'd imagine. Much of Europe is apparently doing the same.
Oh man, how am I to get my Chinese-made goods now, if I can't order them through Japan?
isn't japan post just...japanese postal? so its more like usps
Weebs crying.
Maybe Japanese companies will use the opportunity to do customs processing for customers. Unlikely but who knows.
There's a system they could use at least for Europe. Dunno about the US. Aliexpress and ebay do it.
Australia's taxpayer funded postal service did it too.
just charge the customs fee to the consumer, is that so hard?
The new tarrif on small packages is pretty high, if they still want the US business they'll have a warehouse in the US where they ship their entire orders for the month in containers and pay the lower tariffs on that and then ship them from their US warehouse to the customers
