He also leaned heavily on the "reformed SJW" thing to win people over in GG. Since places like KIA were big on still being "sane Leftists" that was a huge hopebringer that they could bring other Lefties from the extremism to prove their Leftism wasn't the problem, only the radicals.

He only got big "redeeming" himself during GamerGate. He's had plenty of anti-progressive stances since then, but who knows how genuine he ever was.
