Well, I should clarify it's not widely accepted out of japan because it's a japanese payment processor. Most banks I know don't offer JCB but do offer visa and master.
it's a bit like alipay or wepay, which is used by China. But because so many fucking chinese go on trips overseas, you see more countries internationally use them.
Wasnt there a other post that only 17% of japanese have passports? Versus like 80% of british and 50% of americans? So japanese doesnt really visit other places to use their JCB.
Drumming up drama for the sake of free publicity isn't new, it's just several magnitudes greater in terms of what the controversy is vs the alien side-boob days of Mass Effect 1, or whatever FPS it was that had you maybe gun down an airport of civvies while pretending to be a terrorist. I include the "maybe" part there because the player doesn't actually have to join in, but the MSM of course didn't include that part often, if ever.
It's like they invite backlash.
I wouldn't be surprised at this rate if Japan has It's OWN payment processor and visa is locked out.
Japan HAS its own payment processor. JCB. Had it since the 90s. They're just not widely accepted
Any reason like ease of use? Too long for transactions? Etc.

Last I knew, they had reciprocal agreements with Novus (Discover) and American Express, where if a place accepts those it probably accepts JCB.
But that was back when non-Japanese citizens could get JCB cards so I don't know how much that has changed.

They're not inviting backlash. They don't care about the backlash because it won't effect them. They already spent your money.
"Why are they confessing?" "They're not confessing. They're bragging."
