As much as I would absolutely love to have a good sequel to Perfect Dark, I have no doubt whatsoever that they would've just fucked it up.
It's probably better that it never happened at all. I heard that even their attempt at remaking the N64 classic on the XBox was shit, and that was about 20 years ago. Can't even begin to imagine how bad of a job they would do now.
Perfect Dark for N64 was decompiled, from which someone made a PC port. That said, you will have to ahem acquire a ROM for it, then rename it to what the port asks for (should be "pd.ntsc-final" if using the US ROM, placed in a "data" folder).
That is so awesome. I've seen tons of fan mods of game engines to remake the game, but an actual port that allows mods? That changes things a lot.
The biggest problem for N64 games is how everything was designed with the controller in mind. Since none of the modern controllers really look or work like it, we have weirdness. A port like this means better controls, updated graphics, new levels, and all sorts of other stuff.
If there are any HD texture packs for the port, I am unaware of any (although, mods are being made). Otherwise, you start off with the vanilla N64 textures, which still look pretty decent by default at 1080p and up (UI on the other hand, you'll just have to put up with, tinker with the filtering settings to see what is most tolerable).
To start off with, you have mouse support, modern controller support, HD/4K resolution with widescreen, high framerate unlock (your mileage varies past 120 FPS), native splitscreen support, and a whole lot of customizability within the options menu (a new category not found on N64 "Extended") which includes an option to unlock everything out of the gate (mainly for multiplayer purposes).
There is also a mod out there that allows for online play (via simulated splitscreen). I'm blanking on the name, but you should be able to find it via the YouTube channel Graslu00, specifically his recent PD multiplayer livestreams.
Before I look into that, I have to ask: how are the controls? Would they be any different from simply playing it on a N64 emulator?
I know that someone made a version of GoldenEye where you would move with the keyboard and aim with the mouse, which apparently made it a far better playing experience. Would this be the same control scheme, or would it still recommend playing it with a controller?
The mouse controls are fully native, meaning you don't get the weirdness that comes with configuring emulators like that. That said, the mouse sensitivity is really high by default, so you'll have to turn it down in game. It is a full keyboard and mouse experience.
Modern controllers are supported as well should you so wish. See my other comment.
I just tested it. Thank you for this, it works great.
If you're interested, Harbour Masters made a few other PC ports of N64 games. There's Zelda: OoT (Shipwright), Zelda: MM (2Ship2Harkinian), Star Fox 64 (Starship) and Mario Kart 64 (SpaghettiKart). Of course, just like your Perfect Dark port, they all require a "legitimate" ROM of the original games, as well. One of the very interesting features of their Ocarina of Time port is that it has an in-built feature to play a randomizer mode, with a ton of different settings. Hopefully they'll implement the same thing in Majora's Mask soon as well.
Then what do they need all those H1Pajeets for?
To operate the scam call centers, of course.
To turn on the macros… I mean the AI tools to make half-assed games.

And I guess I'll also ping u/AlfredicEnglishRules, since it seems to be a trend.
I want a good perfect dark too. That wasn't one. So we win.
Rumor is that Perfect Dark had next to zero work done on it. Literally all they came up with "What if Joanna Dark had a man jaw?"
