The trender in season 2 completely killed any interest that I may have had.

Yep!
I don't care if there's a trans character in a show. They exist in the world, so they can exist in a fictional world too
Gay porno also exists in the world, but I’m not going to watch it.
That's a bit of a leap from a trans character.
The show isn't subverting genre and including porn. It's a show about everyday citizens being put into a murder contest out of desperation. A trans character being included isn't that big of a deal.
Didn't watch any of it but is the trans being good and surviving when not suppose to? Is the trans liked for no reason? Is it good and nice and forcing the watcher to like the trans character?
edit: Does it make a statement about how oppressed he/she is? Does it try to portray it as something normal rather then a mental illness?
I mean, I gotta be honest I think they handled it well from a Korean culture perspective (I did live there for pretty much 5 years) -- it's just so completely unnecessary.
Does it add a dimension to the character? Kinda? Maybe? In that he's not a sexual creep in any way and definitely still acts quite masculine.
Is it a dimension this show needed? Well, it didn't need a second season at all but it certainly didn't need the injection of modern politics into it... it's not even related to what the show's about.
But, to be fair, a real life squid games would be full of the most degenerate homeless and sexual deviants you could imagine, so maybe it's not so far off...
