Wikipedia cofounder: “ We wanted to give a voice to the voiceless, but what emerged was one of the most effective organs of Establishment propaganda in history.” (twitter.com)

I agree! Some of the "voiceless" are voiceless FOR A GOOD REASON!
No one wants to hear that shit...

They story I heard (no idea how true it is, not going to look it up on Wiki though 😋) is that he and his wife founded it & made it successful as a neutral platform. Then she went "full retard" and had a mid-life crisis and started banging lots of young men, so they split up. One of the men she was banging joined or was part of the Wiki crew & the two of them forced him out.

Of course when she went full retard she went batshit-leftist as well. Thus the current far-left Wiki.

I don't think it was ever a neutral platform, but compared to how it is now it's seen better days.

Volunteer contributors can't keep up with paid contributors posing as volunteer contributors.

Open source software is being hijacked in the same way by the same people.

Legitimate volunteer contributors could never keep up with "volunteers" who somehow have time to spend every waking hour at the computer telling you how wrong you are about something. They do it for free.

(I won't argue it's not owned by big money interests. They're getting an awesome deal.)

I know that may pain you to hear. You thought you were taking part in a movement that would be about ethics in journalism. A movement that would stand for the rights of all gamers. That would welcome women into the world of gaming and would shame those who would engage in personal attacks on the basis of gender. I admire all of those things.

But #gamergate has been permanently tarnished and highjacked by a handful of people who are not what you would hope.

You might not be the person to lead it. I don't know who is. But I strongly recommend that someone organize a "gamer's union" of sorts, with a real mission statement, with real rules, with real organization and leadership.

Bitching and moaning on a twitter hashtag is getting you nowhere, particularly for the reasons I have outlined in this note.

--Jimmy Wales

From December 2014.

Jimmy came to half-KiA and put on, what appeared to be, his serious hat. Thus proving that Wikipedia is bought and paid for and not to be trusted.

All of Wikipedia is a fraud, initially borked by big companies trying to hide their lawsuits but eventually being used by any political group to thwart criticism.

The irony in us giving high apple pie in the sky hopes to the unheard would make Palpatine crack a trollface smile.
