Regardless of the Beach Boys, the Beatles are extremely overrated. They have what 4 albums and a seven year career? And I like their poppy known stuff. I don't know all the deep lore. But they had fun pop tunes.
Beatles have 12 - 17 albums depending on the catalog.
Beach Boys have 29, but the first isn't that great and their peak is from 2 (Surfin' USA) to 11 (Pet Sounds). Smiley Smile was a cop-out of the masterpiece they never made (Smile), Surf's Up and Holland were better than okay, but after the mid '70s, there wasn't any point for them to keep going. Kokomo was a hit, but it was trash.
The two bands were apparently seen as rivals during their heyday, which I always thought was interesting. Brian Wilson was a real talent, so F in the chat for sure.
One unpopular opinion that I will hold until the day I die is that the Beach Boys were a much better band than the Beatles. R.I.P.
