I've read that this is common with Gen Z, so many of them have never used tools that they are functionally incapable of handling minor repairs in their housing.
Which isn't helped by places flat out forbidding occupants from making those repairs if they aren't the homeowner. Not that those renting can otherwise expect a reasonable timetable for repairs to actually happen.
No kidding. I hate it! I'm doing my best with my cousin to get him to try things, but it's an uphill climb because he's never been expected to do things. He has the tool skills I had as a six year old at more than twice the age. Luckily my brother has the nephews working on things so they should be cream of the crop in usefulness.
