Reddit is a case example of how when you empathy too thin by caring about everyone and everything, you become less in touch with humanity than a psychopath.
...of course that's the generous take, the other take is that they're all malicious actors that don't care how many children are raped so long as THEIR side wins.
Yeah that is a really weird way to try to graph that data. It doesn't make sense to have a circular graph represent a distribution across a linear scale like 0-20. And then they wrote a whole paragraph just to explain it because they couldn't label the axes. Anyway, they're saying liberals allocate compassion towards universal/global things like world over your own country, nonhumans are as important as humans, compassion for aliens and paramecium, etc.
Angle really doesn’t mean anything except help give the map a rounded figure. The deeper reds and bigger the mass represents the number of people who have empathy in that specific ring. Green just means only a few of those people have empathy in that ring while red means more.
Reddit was never empathetic. Reddit has always been a toxic shithole meant to condition you into craving internet validation over real world accomplishments.
THAT'S why I said generous take, to be honest the former really applies to SOME of the leftist activist, there's a few in that brainwashed mass that are just so stupid with how they apply empathy that they wind up working for the bad guys.
I'm pretty sure that Reddit is just meant to make money, even if it doesn't. It probably did have the result you mention. Apparently, there are enough people who care about karma that accusations of 'karmafarming' are a thing.
Reddits NET income 12 months running is like NEGATIVE -$500M. Reddit has never had a money making business model. And it has no business being a publicly traded company.
"Empathy" is just a made up word* women introduced into Psychology to champion their superior "emotional intelligence" narrative. Because too many times they got hit back for trying to sympathize with someone with lines like "how could you possibly understand what I'm going through."
So they created this super awesome power to just be able to emotionally resonate with people on everything regardless of their privilege or identity. When in reality it was just sympathy repackaged to pretend it wasn't 1st World White Women crying about pain they couldn't understand to begin with.
*It was originally a translation for some German word used to project your desires onto objects, like a mountain stretching upwards. It got complete redefined around WW2, coincidentally once Karen Horney had been poisoning the well with her feminist superiority psychology across America.
To be fair, a dirty little secret is that the vast majority of people don't have the ability to actually sympathize either, which is why it got its bastardized watered down definition of "I feel bad that you feel bad". But being able to actually place yourself in someone else's shoes, understand their point of view, how they arrived at it, why it seems right to them, what data led them to that conclusion, etc is a skill that I would wager less than 5% of humans actually have. Virtually everyone is only able to view the world through the lens of their own experience, even if they think they can do otherwise.
Men are better at literally everything on earth except for raising children from birth until about 4 years old. Even after that age, fathers are better than mothers at raising kids.
I think most people can sympathize, but its not an absolving feeling either. I can sympathize with the hard life a single mom is going through. This doesn't mean I approve of her actions nor believe that the blame isn't still squarely on her regardless. I'm certain almost anyone can manage that level of sympathy, as its basic human morality.
But that's what people want. They want your positive emotions, but without any judgement. Which is what "empathy" means to them. Its a woman explaining how she cheated but wants you to think of her as a victim anyway and tell her her reasonings as valid.
Interestingly enough, the word "indo-european" didn't start appearing until after WWII. They used to use the word "aryan" dating all the way back to the sumerians
You could probably spend a lifetime going through the list of all the deliberate cultural engineering done under the shadow of WW2. Most of which has been bred so deep into our minds that we'd not even think to question it.

I can assure you that they care about themselves and only themselves.

Ah, you are aware. But it's not even their side, like it's not their opinions. They've been conscripted into the side of the establishment with propaganda. We give them too much credit by pretending that they have empathy, a side, or opinions.
Absolutely. They worship power and will obey what power tells them. That said, they are passive as it is, because they're simply following instructions. Ingsocians were not active simply because they shook their fists at Goldstein for two minutes when they were told to.

Yeah, 'The heatmap' explains a lot.

Can you help me understand how to read that? I sort of get the rings and color, but the angle and shape of the data confuse me.

After it was revealed that Saudi Arabia employed thousands to “shape the narrative”
I always viewed reddit as a Karachi-based open borders manipulation organization. .

The dirtier secret is that men are better at empathy than women due to their solipsistic nature.

Its pure woman logic behind the word.

It’s a linguistic term dating back centuries.
Einfühlung.
But there is a valuable distinction to be drawn between feeling others’ pain and understanding that others feel pain.
There is, but I don't think the majority of people who ever utter the word "empathy" could even fathom it.
I can assure you that they care about themselves and only themselves.

You think we can reprogram them to just be non violent passive NPCs then? This current patch is just broken..
