What's really disturbing is the number of Chinese in the last few years of the video. Odds are they are either wealthy ones looking to export their wealth before their communist masters seize it or they are 5th columnists here to destabilize us. Neither benefits this country.
Both at once, probably. Allow your subjects to keep their wealth as long as they do so outside the country, and as long as they work on behalf of the country. The Chinese and the Soviets both seized all their gardens, but the Chinese eventually learned from the Soviet failures that if all you do is plunder them, pretty soon there'll be nothing left to take.
Yeah, alot of those Chinese are not refugees but economic migrant loyalists.

There was a thing where if you came with something like 500k(it might be more) to invest then you would get fast tracked for citizenship. The Chinese are the ones that were really taking advantage of it.

It was a great location to coordinate their raping and plundering of the appalachian society. Turns out they were the ones that were helping exploit the people for resources like coal and iron. Basically just running banks and selling goods that helped suppressed the appalachian people from actually seeing any wealth from anything they mined or logged.
Instead they helped people like prescott bush (george bush sr's dad), form companys like buckeye steel. Just helping the rich get richer off the broken backs of the poor.

That's not how the Coal Wars worked. The poverty in West Virginia existed prior to, and since, coal mines and coal towns. And while we can have a long discussion about why Appalachia remained poor, it would be more reasonable to blame the US government and Coal Companies (via the use of mining towns) to keep coal cheap and competitive internationally to support the US's efforts at mass industrialization. Most of everything I mentioned was run by "yankees".

Most of the Plantation elite of the South really didn't go anywhere, and didn't lose much of their land holdings. Many of your most influential politicians in the south are still descendants of those plantation aristocrats from the antebellum period. They also hated the Appalachian peoples in the first place. The "Mountain Folk" v. "Coastal Elite" divide has existed since prior to the American Revolution, and is one of the reasons why West Virginia seceded from Virginia.

Blacks and Appalachians both had the same problem in having low literacy, low mathematical aptitude, which prevented them from developing complex economies. But the thing that really killed their success off was the introduction of Socialism via Unions and Racialism into their societies that drew their attention from personal and civic development, into rampant oppression Olympics and resentment mongering. I was a bit surprised by the huge swathe of Russians that showed up at the turn of the 20th century. I don't feel like I see much ethnic Rus presence in the US, so I wonder if they were listed as Russian because some of those countries only just began to exist (or re-emerge). It would make sense that Polish immigration would be zero while Poland wasn't a country, only for it to become one, and then Russian and Polish immigration swap.

War against the Bolsheviks, Mensheviks, Communists, and Socialists is always an abject moral good. The issue is whether the cost of that moral good outweighs the benefits to your own people to wage that war.
more or less my point. avoid war where it the cost is less than the harm to your own people the war would cost. in the case of the white army, fighting off the communists would have been far cheaper (had they won) than letting them suffer under the boot of the communists or be displaced from their homeland. We are behaving as if we lost WW3, and we didn't even fight a war. I think if we had had a real one and defeat communism totally, we may have been better off.
