My mums in a nursing home now, tried looking after her at home but it was a two person job. Don't have any other family so I think I'll make my traditional bowl of smoking bishop and share it with my neighbour.
Other than that not really a christmasy kind of guy. Although it's been perverted horribly in my lifetime into just another day of selling tat.
I'm in a similar situation although my mother's still at home for now. My uncle and maybe my aunt (who's already in the local nursing home) will be here on Christmas Day, which is a silly and awkward arrangement since I'm an atrocious host and cook, but it's somehow become customary. I guess it beats the alternative which is zero meaningful human contact on Christmas, but I would like to have the chance to try that one year.
An online friend of mine mentioned smoking bishop the other day. I've never tried it but I'm curious. Could be a sign to mix some up for myself. You got a secret recipe?
Horrific. Put in an extra 30 hours into work this week and anticipate another 6 this evening as my boss flip flops, yet again, on the structure of a project that was supposed to be due tomorrow.
I haven't really been able to get into the season because of it and I'm looking forward to time with my family starting Tuesday.
Know the feeling. I'll be working events I helped design and won't get much of a break. My job right now is to make sure everyone else has a nice Christmas. It sounds noble, but doesn't feel like it.
Going well. Going to my sister’s for lunch on Christmas Day and have church on Christmas Eve. Gonna stay at my parents most of the week and work from there.
Silly goose, we’re in Advent! But it has been splendid so far. First daughter has been potty trained fully (the 3 day method is intense but works!!). Wife and I have spent a lot more quality time together now that our newborn is sleeping better as well. Overall it has been a good season, and I cannot wait for Christmas
It's going okay, as it feels like it's been a rough ending to an otherwise great year. I have found myself in need of a new PC since my old one is really old - It was purchased in 2014, if you are curious - and even though I would like to keep using it in part due to that it's started to get stuck in a loop of critical_process_died errors despite being fine two days ago. and I have been trying to wonder if I should take the plunge with Linux or something more odd. I'm mostly just enjoying time with my family despite being the one person who voted trump and buying presents for them and myself.
I work in an industry that gets destroyed with increased production come Christmas time, so I'm on my first full day off in about 2 weeks and enjoying the heck out of it. Hoping no last minute surprises give us a post-Xmas catch up the rest of the week.
But as someone with no real extended family either, I'm glad to work so other people can have theirs and I can pocket the excess money for my own small clan.
I started the month feeling more festive and generous than I ever have done. I'm a solitary person and my gift list averages out to about 3 names, all of them elderly family by now. But this year I decided I'd get a small gift for every business in town that I regularly patronise, so I went around doing my small santa thing here and there. Don't really know what came over me.
I came off 2 months of sobriety in time to enjoy some christmas beers which I spent way too much money on, plus some Whistlepig 10 Year Rye whiskey. I'm over-indulging, to tell the truth, but this is what Christmas means to me.
Had a bunch of leftover hours on one of my contracts, so I've been trying to bill as many hours as I can before the new year within the constraint of still being able to spend time with visiting family.
Construction project around the house I've wanted to do for years should be starting soon.
Good and bad. Bad, everyone's falling sick, whole family got some cough/bacterial infection. Even the dog got sick and is puking/shitting all over the place cause she got into something she shouldn't have. Good is spending time with people and the general cheer
I fought off the evil forces of Halloween it yet another attempt to usurp Christmas. This time with a warhammer and my trusty Smith and Wesson M-29. It’s a thankless job but someone has to keep the darkness at bay. Remember kingdom hearts is light!

I just use tasting history's recipie. Always wondered what it was, turns out it's quite nice

Sorry brother. I hope things go as well as they can and that you get some genuine time for you and yours.
I woke up with a cold yesterday, hopefully it clears up by tomorrow.

Tons of snow this time around.
Pretty sure last year was a brown Christmas.
Tbh, I think it only snowed less than a half dozen times at all.
This year it snowed and it stayed.
Spending time with relatives, especially older. Appreciating them since we hardly see each other.

Doing wonderful, it's nice to be off work for a while, and enjoying time at home.

Isn't it obvious? It's the Christmas spirit lmao :^)
But that's great dude, hope you enjoy yourself.

Hasn't started yet. It's still advent.
With that username, I can't tell if this is an elaborate XCOM joke or not :^)
Haven't felt the urge to brain anyone. Yet.
