Choosing mostly to skim the threads because I don’t have problem with people not wearing these armbands, but one common thread between both is the complaint of “If you’re so religious, why don’t you protest the gambling and alcohol sponsors which are everywhere and way more frequent than rainbow armbands”, which I don’t really have an answer for, but am just curious how you all would handle that question.
I'm not sure that gambling or alcohol is inherently a sin. It's arguable sure, but in my opinion it's more the love of money/materialism and the overuse of alcohol that's sinful. I'd certainly support him if he wanted to speak out against those sponsorships though.
Homosexuality and sexual immorality on the other hand is specifically banned by the bible despite what fake churches may say. It's quite clear. It's not that having sex with men is only sinful when you do it excessively, it's sinful all of the time.
Jesus drank alchool (wine), and it's part of the Church ritual in Christianity. So alchool isn't a sin by default.
Getting drunk ( and doing drugs in general ), as using ressources to pursue useless pleasures and impairing your decision making, is a sin on a similar level to over-eating.
It is as a warning not to let yourself fall into depravity.
You can consider special occasions in moderation are not considered depravity, otherwise Jesus wouldn't have changed water into wine for the wedding feast at Cana.
When I see an Emirates logo on a shirt, I don't think that player is making this endorsement. No one mistakes alcohol or gambling sponsors for a personal endorsement. Instead, it is a quid pro quo.
This is far more sinister. If you had a captain's band that promoted alcoholism or any other sin, these players would act the same way. But even if they didn't, alcoholism and these other sins are not promoted, so it's not really as imperative to stand up against them.
Of course, Reddit pedophiles are too retarded to understand much of anything.
Yeah, that's why I chose to leave the Reddit threads and just post the article here, because there's a lot of 'you don't protest the Catholic Church being full of pedos and covering them up, the American megachurch pastors existing' nonsense going on.
Also misusing verses like Matthew 19:23-26 to dunk on rich people when that's not what that verse is there for.
Than what is it there for?
Are the players also being forced to wear armbands celebrating alcoholism and gambling addictions? No, they're just being forced to celebrate dicks going up asses? Then that's just a lazy non sequitor from those plebbit fags.
First thing that comes to my mind, without thinking harder about it:
A captain's armband is worn by the captain. Sponsorship is worn by ever single player of the team and is most also visible in club related things (press conferences, ...).
Just look at this topic. It's "Guehi wears the an armband with X". It's not "Crystal Palace is wearing an armband with X". People connect the captain's armband to the player, not to the club.
