The Nuremberg tribunals have always bothered me because they are championed as a "triumph of justice", but they were mostly ex post facto crimes invented for the trials. There simply was no concept of "crimes against humanity" or "waging an aggressive war" as a distinctly criminal act prior to this. They also didn't afford the defendants most of the rights somebody being prosecuted in the US would enjoy. I'm not sure how convicting someone at a trial that wouldn't be legal under your own laws can be championed as a Triumph of Justice.
They were simply the allies slapping on a veneer of legality while engaging in the standard age-old practice of executing or jailing the leaders of the losing nation after a war.

They DIDN'T try the leaders of Unit 731, who had gone to the USA with all of their data... all that is left of the 731 complex is a single outbuilding with a plaque on it...
Which was all worthless nonsense that was barely worth the paper it was printed on unless you really wanted to know the specifics that killing someone in X way is 3 seconds faster than Y method.
They were hoping to get something on the level of the Nazis who had leaps ahead in numerous fields of science, instead they got "the Japs are fucking savages."
Fun Fact: Churchill wanted to use poison gas... on civilians! The plan was to drop gas on 3-4 cities at the same time, wiping out the "military workers". He hoped for 1 million deaths.
Luckily the USA was more interested in The Bomb and were slow in making the stuff. The A-bomb was just a bomb, but gassing 1M civilians is just sick.
