It still amuses me greatly how something as low effort and 'non-presidential' as sitting and doing a podcast has had effect on this election.
Like, of all things, the podcasting tours did the best comparison between the two that wasn't behind a veil of media and obsfucation. Trump/Vance showed up on highly popular podcasts everyone knows and just shot the shit like normal people (massively undermining their Nazi labels), while Harris went on a bunch of wierd niche shows with awkward names and came across as unlikable and stupid as always.
This just further shows how much they knew that was the case, and wanted to desperately control it.
People are not necessarily good at judging policy (otherwise socialism would never have worked).
BUT, they do tend to have a "bullshit detector" or "psycho detector" that they've developed over their lives. This is why Amber Herd was doing so well against Johnny Depp until her trail got televised. Then everybody saw through her bullshit almost instantly. This is one of the reasons why so many courts fight to guarantee that juries physically see people testify in front of them, not even over videos or recorded statements.
Not talking about topics allows people to gather an intuition on somebody who is no longer trying to hide who they are, because they don't think the topic is important. You can tell a lot from somebody who is talking off the cuff about something they care about.
But people like Harris can't do that because they are fake people. She's a complete fraud, and she knows it, and she's so insecure that she requires constant affirmation and is wildly intolerant of anyone who doesn't placate her. Or worse, like Walz, they fucking crazy. I maintain that Walz is extremely violent. The little reaction he gave to his disabled kid on stage was something I've seen in a hundred abusive parents. His, dumb, plucky, middle-school football coach act wasn't going to fool me after that. That's a dude who throws chairs at walls when he gets angry. His nearly shaking & red with rage response in the VP debate had me fucking nervous for Vance's safety.
Nor should they really be. Policy requires an extreme understanding of a plethora of industries, human psychology, and international trade among many other factors. Not only that, but also how they will interact with other policies, law, and bureaucracy already on the books. Its an absurd ask of people.
That's the point of representatives in government. You elect someone whose entire job is to know that and then they make decisions on it for you with their expertise. And that bullshit detector is how you decide which representative will act in your interest instead of their own.
Where that system failed was in the power of the media controlled narratives, as well as the increasing globalization leading to people becoming disconnected from both their community and reality.
That and the overweighted power of the Federal Government compared to the State and Local, which is so far removed from an individual's life that neither you nor they can properly vet each other. But you know, at least Lincoln "freed" the slaves so totally worth it there.
This goes back to my arguments of a stratified government. The federal government shouldn't make laws outside of direct regulation of the states, and the states should be voting on that and only that alone.
Your local government is set up to settle your disputes. Your regional government settles disputes of the local governments. The state settles disputes of regional governments. The federal government settles disputes of states. Voting goes one step up, enforcement goes one step down. The 10th amendment needs to be aggressively strengthened.
It just goes to show how comfortable Democrats have gotten with media obedience and deference, and how utterly helpless they are when you take away their ability to demand edits and do multiple takes.
I mean, that was one of the original roots of TDS.
Trump skipped the media middleman and just tweeted his thoughts directly to the world, often unfiltered. Which not only made him look less "professional" (because they were used to presidential words having multiple proofreads and filters), but also forced them to listen to him instead of the media interpreting his words.
Which resulted in the legacy media losing their shit (and sowing the seeds for TDS endlessly in impotent rage) and him looking brutish and rough to everyone else.
I doubt there’d be much dead air. She probably would have just floundered and Rogan would ask her something simple like ‘what got you into skating?’ And she’d just talk about that.
She would ramble 5 minutes about how important skating is, how it can be a good exercise, how it is a part of many sports, how it gives people hope, but she would never outright admit or deny to skating herself in her free time, and would sidestep any question about how long she has been skating.
Is it just a woman thing? Are they just fucking terrible at voicing their personal thoughts on things because of evolution or something? Men will sit and ramble about stupid crap for hours while building legos, fishing, whittling, painting Warhammer figurines, repairing a car, whatever. Intense detail, high focus, direct personal experience, the works. A statement of qualifications to discuss the subject.
Women will babble, too, but it's never... specific. Women get really defensive when nerds start grilling them on their nerd cred, or even just feebly flirting by asking what comic they like, what MMO's they've played, who their favorite Pokémon is, their favorite metal album, anything. It's like their social value is being challenged, and they have no ability to deal with it properly so they lash out.
A man behaving that way would be called thin-skinned and a retard. Just answer the question, Johnny, who's your favorite starter? What would your Patronus be? Hamburgers or pizza every day forever, and explain why.

Paulie walnuts throwing a chair at a window "fucking queers".
One could make an argument for similarities to the Nixon v Kennedy debate in the way it may have forever altered how politicians run their campaigns.

Her team asked because they're aware that she babbles nonsense like a street corner derelict.
Either that or they were worried about excessive dead air.
