All the Dead Rising youtubers were sucking this off when it came out, sad.
Everyone knew it was going to be bad because they haven't made a good Dead Rising game since the very thing they were trying to remake, with every single sequel missing what made it good in some way. Yes that includes 2/OTR.
Lo and behold, nearly every single change shows that they don't understand what made it so special and removed clunky things that were part of the charm/soul of it leaving a boring, easy husk.
That's before you get to any woke nonsense.
Even the Chop Till You Drop Wii version at least tried, even when being held back on previous gen hardware, and a different engine than the 360 version.
Tons had to be cut back, there was no overall timer, even though the missions themselves were timed. Some psychopaths and some survivors just didn't make the cut. Frank can't jump, the mall is like a fifth of the size, etc.
I will give it a positive that aiming some ranged weapons was improved in this version, ammo was way easier to find, and because it used the RE4 engine that Resident Evil 4 did, it gave you an over the shoulder cam for those moments, which was helpful, if out of place in Dead Rising, since DE isn't RE4.
This however, is just an outsourced de-make.
And my biggest issue with it, is that Capcom was okay with releasing it at all.
Censors: expected, except the Viet Cong/commie thing. Is that something that can't even be mentioned? Or just referred to negatively?
Blood: confusing. Did they just go with one or two floor splatter patterns, mop up everything else, and call it good?
Details: can't track all of that because I'm a disgusting phoneposter, but one thing I could forgive there is mirroring lights on a couple of the floors (unless the grocery floor is meant to look soaked). More importantly, how on earth does the game need 32 TIMES MORE MEMORY?
Difficulty: it sounds like the only big problem before was the save/time system. Sad to see the number of "fixes" made that weren't needed. It likely contributed to the other buggy collision problems seen elsewhere.
Voices: I swear, they must have had the actors try to match the pitch and pace of the originals to avoid completely reanimating cutscenes. It's so weird, and would be a very Japanese/autistic thing to be concerned about.
Easy. They're using more 4k, 2k, and 1k textures and higher poly models. That adds up real fucking quick. Don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised if the original used anything higher than 512x512.
For reference, a 512x512 texture takes up ~800kb, 1k is ~3MB, 2k is ~12MB, and 4k is ~48MB.
Wokeness has Communist origins, so not as unexpected as one would think. That is why I call it Wokeshevism.
I guarantee that they wouldn't have a problem with a game where you play as the VC.
Well, Crime Boss has a side story in its campaigns where you play the PoV of a veteran hallucinating his Vietnam history. And it's not a woke "we were the bad guys" story, it's "we're stealing this valuable treasure from the Viet Cong. What, Danny Trejo betrayed us? Time for vengeance!"
Crowbcat is a hero
I still periodically go back and watch "Remember Halo".
Crowbcat is a genius. He never speaks, appears on camera, talks on social media or otherwise gives the people he's criticizing anything to latch on to. He just holds up a mirror and they can't stand the sight of their own faces.
I agree that he a genius in this regard although even he seems to be losing it a bit in the modern world as seen by the Dead Rising remake ending, where the custom clip and text basically pointing out his opinion, I guess he got tired of the npc not understanding, haha
Good lord, how did they manage to make this game look worse?!!
God, the purge of gaming just can't come soon enough. Stop raping the dead corpse of our franchises.
