Pandas are bears, Ursidae, while honey badgers are mustelids, Mustelidae. Both are of the same mammalian Order of Carnivora, but it's the same magnitude of difference that exists between hominids, Hominidae, and tarsiers, Tarsiidae, despite both being of the same mammalian Order of Primates.
At best you might be able to John Hammond giant pandas with one of the seven other species of bear but even then any offspring would very likely be sterile mules if they even managed to survive.
So, would i be more successful making honey badgers massive, releasing them in China and calling them pandas?
You'd be better starting with a wolverine, they're the largest mustelid alive and still just as insanely aggressive.
