Im embarrassed to say that I actually liked him and watched his stuff in the pre Orange Man days. He usually had decent commentary when it came to Unity shovelware on Steam. But man…. life has been rough to him. Jim and Boogie the perfect fat degenerate perpetually online books.
Life wasn't "rough" on him. He brought it upon himself. By being a lazy retard who stuffed his face and refused to exercise and take care of his physical health. And then by choosing to follow in path of the tranny degenerate brigade.
And beyond that, I never found his commentary even remotely insightful. Even in his early days.
He was cringe even back then. The only thing good on the Escapist was Zero Punctuation and maybe Miracle of Sound. The MoS showed himself as the sellout he was.
He's just an advertiser for ubishit and the other big companies. Ever since he started getting access to the suits he's been pretty damn pozzed. I noticed it about the time Watchdogs 2 came out.
The only reason Jim and guys like Totalbiscuit even managed to be worth something once is because the bar set by game's journos was so low that someone being actually negative was unique.
They were garbage then (just look at TB's history with WoW) and never got better. Everyone just picked the bar up off the floor where it was.
The fact that he even involved himself in such nonsense on his literal deathbed speaks more to his ego than anything else. He couldn't imagine A Thing In Gaming happening without him.
They capitalized on the New Media Douchebag, where it's Cool to be Negative (a trend wave they were riding from the few years prior blowout known as Angry Video Game Nerd).

I'm aware he had a later career. His history during Cata marked him as a literal retard who could barely play the games he tried to speak definitively on. Its why he was basically run out of the "community."
That's why he became such a stickler for things like Settings and garbage games no one else would play, because he could rant and be negative endlessly like an Expert without showing his lack of skill at gaming itself.
No need to be embarrassed; I thought he was spot on when it came to the greediness of the AAA gaming industry, the mismanagement of game budgets, and the overall short-sightedness and blatantly anti-customer business practices and mechanics in that market.
Unfortunately, it's clearer more than ever to me that he is WAY out of his depth when it comes to any social or political topics and should have just stuck to video games.
For the record, I stopped watching him in 2020 when he justified the BLM Summer of Love and tried to accuse the cops of starting the Portland and Minneapolis riots in particular.
