They went from promising no microtransactions to microtransactions + the Amazon WH40K show going belly up and losing Henry Cavil + Female Custodes being retconned into the lore (possibly at Amazon's insistence) = Bad time to be a 40K fan.
They've said the writer was excised at an earlier date and there would be "respect" for the lore. However, given all the lies GW have been peddling in the last month alone, nobody trusts them.
3D Printing is becoming ubiquitous. Bad time for GW to be screwing with their fans.
It's completely legal to make things that are "compatible with" certain games. I'm fully expecting that to happen in the very near future. It's really not too hard for the really dedicated fans to make proxies and either sell or distribute the files for free.
Games Workshop thinks they literally own their fans and don't seem to realize how easily they can be abandoned and replaced.
Expecting? It's already happened well before 3D printing. My FLGS has a ton of totally-not 40k, totally not D&D, etc. models.
As for 3D printing, Neckbeardia (previously known for reading various *chan posts) sell a LOT of looks-like models. https://neckbeardia.co.uk/
And yes, I'm shilling for them. I used to listen to them a lot when I had more free time and I like their buddy GuardBro.
This isn't too surprising, but I really haven't been following this too closely. Good to see it's already going, but the demand for this is only going to grow with companies like Games Workshop going so hard for ESG and DEI bullshit.
Can the man just have one passion project to nerd the fuck out over? Please?!
He's a "sis hete hwhite male", as the lefties say it. The whole point may actually be to just cause him personal harm for their own enjoyment.
May they forever step on lego if that's the case.
