Got the disc version from a coworker - yeah Sony / Shift Up are faggots for the day 1 censor but I am greatly surprised by the game. I am 40 hours in and I am taking my time.
The setting is more of less the same as Nier:Automata, at least the setup.
- Main character is hot. Side character are hot. NPC's are hot. Best of all: NO NIGGERS.
- Gameplay is not for normies though. Is not Bayo or DMC. Can't just smash button. Even on Story Mode is not as easy as it seems.
- Cool animations, the gore "censorship" is not even noticeable. Doesn't even matter, the blood doesn't even stay on her for more than a few frames.
Imma prolly beat the game and as long there is no blatant faggotry (subtle hints of lesbianism) ill buy the physical copy of the game. There is a little throw away line refencing "muh global warming" early in the game.
9/10 IMO.
EDIT: Looks like they listened. The new 1.003 patch includes two new outfits that are based on the 1.00 version. They actually look better.
Just as i posted this I read they just released a new patch.
Doesn't address the censorship, which is unfortunate. Even the new outfits they released added random pieces to hide the cleavage which is fucking silly. Looks like Sony has their balls.
Nevermind on buying a the copy. Fuck em. Fucking pussies.
But again, no nigs. Developers should be rewarded for that alone. Decisions, decisions.
seriously?? just released a patch to censor?
nah, the censor patch was day one.
Freestellarblade.com
People where hoping the developers would undo it since they got caught, but the 2nd patch they just released doesn't seem to address that.
Ah i thought you meant a new patch censored more. Aside from the day one patch.
What is the way of getting around the censorship with a physical copy? Been thinking of picking up a copy once it goes on sale.
Yeah you gotta be offline completely. As soon you connect to the internet, it will flag your install and it wont let you play until you update.
Honestly is not that bad, sure the Bunny outfit got covered up a bit, but the blood is not a big deal because as i mentioned, blood is never on her after she executes a mob for more than a few frames.
Is honestly more about the fact that they bent the knee. If they came out and said Sony forced them to so, so be it, but director said it was an "artistic choice". Yeah sure.
I agree, the reason I didn't buy it at launch was because of the censorship bait-and-switch. I have plenty of games to play, though, so I don't mind waiting until Stellar Blade is at least half off.
I still want to play it, and I would've payed full price for it as well, but the bait-and-switch really left a sour taste in my mouth.
I got the feeling ShiftUp will go the way of CD Projekt Red. Early release of a few good, non woke games. Get praised by community as based, then eventually succumbing.
See how far CDPR has fallen.
Why is that legal?
In the long run we need devs to understand that working with Sony just isn't worth it.
I think Square Enix's recent move and the public slap of what happened with Helldivers 2 showed that.
Square doesn't care about the censorship, though, considering they're actively engaging in it themselves. They're just realizing they're doing themselves no favors putting all their big releases on one platform. It's just about money, nothing more.
And that's the best thing, we'll get nowhere just saying 'censorship is bad' but we will get somewhere if you go 'see that big pile of money? You can't reach it if you censor, you know who makes you censor if you work with them? Sony'
People aren't buying Soyny's consoles because they oppose their censorship policies; normies by and large aren't even aware of them and any who are likely don't care regardless. They're not buying the PoS5 because it's an expensive hunk of metal that's not offering anything notable or with a marked improvement over what the last generation produced. And Japan in particular has been moving away from home consoles entirely for some time, cutting further into their sales.
Square's too compromised. They'll still work to appeal to "modern audiences" if for no other reason than to collect those free ESG funbux. They're also not outright abandoning Soyny, they're just not signing any more exclusivity deals with them. They still need to abide to Soyny's policies if they want to keep making anything for the PoS5, which means every version of their games will be censored. Companies prefer to make a one-size-fits-all product rather than make cuts and alterations to a specific version to suit its affiliated platform owner's standards, and we all know Microsoft is adopting similar ones as well. Seriously, I don't see anything change happening with Square.
This is the correct assessment, and an unfortunately grim one.
We won't see any changes until after the industry collapses.
They axed a lot of western employees as part of their restructuring, and a number of those whinging on twitter where managers and game analysts with faggot flags in their bio. Who knows, maybe someone is paying attention?
That's actually a huge plus, as I'm not a fan of that genre generally, so if it spices things up I'm more likely to be interested.
Yeah, but you said they're all hot, so it's fine.
It realies a lot on the perfect parry / perfect dodge mechanics. Even trash mobs will rekt you if you start spamming buttons. Its actually quite fun.
True dat.
>A line referencing global warming
>Post-apoc game
"And then Earth changed on average one degree celcius every 100 years for 2 centuries, which little did we know, the super-alien-zombie-mutant-mechas needed that exact temperature change to activate."
I'm waiting on the PC release. Still not sure whether to actually purchase a copy - probably will, given that it is one of the least pozzed games in recent memory and I believe in voting with my wallet.
Not unexpected, given the Souslike inspiration. How's the combat though? There was talk of it being a bit sluggish to begin with, and dodges not really being effective. Does that change with character progression?
I get the comparison, since both include legitimately easy "easy modes". It's still weird hearing two games, both with exceptionally high skill ceilings and heavy emphasis on precise input, being used to describe normie friendly though.
It was sluggish in the demo, it had a .5 input lag when the parry / dodge would trigger. Shit was weird.
Is better with retail, apparently the day 1 censor patch improved that. There are also upgrades in game that improves the timing, so it gets better. I like the animations, not as autistic as Bayo or Dante moves, but they look cool nevertheless. The music is pretty good though, not on the same level as Nier but still one of the better OSTs in recent games.
Also gonna give credit where credit is due, there are tons of outfits and customization in game. These are all attainable in game. Most developers today would sell outfits packs.
Thanks for the details, sounds good all round.
Wonder if that was intentional or the result of demo feedback?
It will be ported to PC this year, mark my words
Well at least someone enjoys it. I'll probably never consider picking it up evennif this comes to pc, fuck soyny and fuck consoles.
I'm just now hearing news that the Boss Rush Mode patch added "separate obtainable versions of the costumes in question, but uncensored."
Oh wow. Good for them if thats true. Got a link?
I also wonder if they were trolling when they changed the HARD R grafitti with CRIME. 13/50 reference maybe?
I've only seen react-tubers talk about it so far, and how Alyssa MerCUNTe is seething about it.
EDIT: Well, here's a tweet from Grummz, who was pretty much at the front of all this- https://x.com/Grummz/status/1793993292952277058
Yup, just loaded the game. I'm actually pleasantly surprised. Between this Tifa's swimsuit and this game, it looks like developers are beginning to realize gamers don't want to see ugly chics in their games.
