I absolutely DESPISE all of these YouTube white-pill-peddling grifters. "We Won! Kathleen Kennedy is going to get fired by Activision! Yaaaaaay! Now go back to consuming AAAALLLLL the products!" They're all just about building a community so they could farm it by selling the people dopamine hits. It's no better than people who make money by telling fortunes or making horoscopes - selling wish-fullfillment fantasies. "You're going to meet a tall, dark stranger and he's going to make Disney bankrupt."
I'm so fucking glad Sony's going to let me keep giving them money. I used to be PC Master Race, but now I can finally become a fucking console peasant.
On the other hand, here's a MUCH better video, by Louis Rossman.
Also, I find it stunning how this faggot's video shows no mention of the devs' community managers insulting their customers, gloatingly telling them that PSN will make banning players much easier, or even that one asshole senior CM saying Mark Kern is "someone who sexually assaulted many people he worked with". Fuck the Critical Faggot! Fuck Arrowhead!
Crit Drinker also doesn't mind a little woke in his movies and gives praise to some movies that I don't understand why he gives a pass for.
He isn't conservative, he is a gamergate liberal.
He points out feminism but is fine with diversity, faggotry, and anti-Christian messaging.
Look at how he fawned over the Last of Us tv show gay romance novel episode.
You are right that the videos are just farming for clicks for the best part. No better than life coaches, fortune readers or alpha man videos.
Considering the embarrassment associated with Sony on this though there is some success.
Louis Rossman is right though that different terms of service changes on products already sold shouldn't be allowed. That is where the direction of the group should go just now. They won't, but they should.
I looked after my friend's cat while he was on holiday. He had the PS5 and the latest Xbox. I tried to play games I already own at my house while there and needed to either use his password of sign up with my own email to play them. That's not console gaming, that's extortion.
I gave up on Sony when they'd email me with Vaio updates all the time. I've better things to do with my life than keep an eye on what Sony is doing.
I'll still buy stuff to support developers but I homebrew and use all the tricks of the trade to remove that crap from my network.
GTA IV got me buying it on Steam, pirating it so I didn't need Games for Windows messing up my playtime and that's when I decided that they want far too much from me for what the game is.
But younger players only know this. The idea of playing a game without being watched by some business server somewhere doesn't even occur to them.
That is wrong. And like Louis said, if they can turn off your TV, baby monitor or whatever remotely they are intruding into your life and shouldn't be tolerated.
Thanks for sharing his video and I recommend everyone to give it a watch. There's no fluff in it.
If you think so highly of this video feel free to make another thread with it. Or anyone else can do it. Whenever I start a thread, I feel pressured into constantly checking my notifications. Never used Xitter or Facebook, and absolutely hate doing it here.
Sure thing!
Give me a minute :)
Rossman is generally very consistent in his consumer rights advocacy. He also doesnt do it as frequently to the point of ad nauseum. I still like cd and the likes. But hollywood is dying topic is undeniably tiring.
nProtect. Live-service. Freemium battlepass.
Won a battle, conceded the war.
It would be worthwhile to try and get through the community, while it is still celebrating, why all of the above is absolutely terrible for gamers.
It will mostly fall on deaf ears but if we can get enough people to understand that their liberties are being taken away with intrusions on their personal life they might take notice.
Maybe not today, but when Sony sends their kids happy birthday cards and recommends diets and pension plans it will be to late.
Don't forget the community managers.
I think the funniest video relating to this backtrack I've seen is this video where the incorporated the Sony backlash as a major order lol.
We'll see if we can use this to gain momentum and start to really push Sony, maybe this embarrassment before the investor call could be good for us.
If the pennies in our pocket aren't important to the framework that relies on them at a personal level this at least shows collectively they clearly do matter and that's an important message for the framework to understand.
Banning people from taking part is a HUGE NO GO in basic human rights and labelling those who you see as "Problematic" shows weakness and a lack of understanding for what pays your mortgage (If you even have one).
I wouldn't be so bold as to go the Gina Carano route but silencing and excluding a large amount of people and then considering them as less than human has been a problem in humanity's past.
And to those who say "It's just a game" many can say that about a book or a nation's flag. These things matter to some people and discounting the entire notion completely is not the winning strategy when considered in the wider abstract.
No we didn't, we haven won't until helldivers COMPLETLY fails and goes under. Don't be a fucking soyny faggot and go back to playing this game. It needs to fail and a message engrained in that financial destruction. Weak faggots and traitors to gaming will go back to helldivers.
Why? You reward shifts toward your side and punish shifts away. If you punish shifts in both directions then nobody has an incentive to lean towards you.
We have plenty of financial destruction to go around, but not many capitulations. This is a victory akin to the Sonic movie completely redesigning his face after that horrible trailer.
It's a warning to future devs. Fuck helldivers and gratification now. It's about sending a message to the future to prevent these Faustian deals from being considered.
The lesson taken away from that would be "just integrate PSN accounts in the beginning so the gamers don't cry about it later"
So then you don't buy the next game at all and they learn their next lesson. The only reason shit like this has gotten as far as it has is because weak willed gamers have rationalized giving into their FOMO under the guise of "rewarding shifts toward our side". That's how microtransactions went from outrage over horse armor to complete acceptance of "cosmetics".
Have some god damned principles and actually stand for them for once and maybe things will actually start shifting toward our side rather than just shifting away at a "more acceptable" rate.
The reason they've gotten this far is because there's been near zero pushback and definitely ZERO victories. Nobody rolled back MTX. Nobody rolled back horse armor. When did consumers ever succeed in getting anything done like this?
What is needed to reform the games industry is constant, assiduous action where every incremental improvement is never good enough. The idea of just burning down everything until they give us 100% of what we want is a juvenile fantasy akin to the college kids camping out on lawns until admin cuts off all ties with Israel. Why? Many reasons, one of them being that you can't control the buying decisions of the normie kid or adult who just wants to have fun playing games.
A smaller, motivated force can steer a larger entity, but it can't just dominate the battlefield 100%.
Crushing Helldivers 2 based on a PSN problem that they've resolved is also a fantasy. Hardliners like you won't buy back in, and that will hurt them, but it won't kill them.
What about the skyrim/fallout paid mods? Although all that happens was that they were moved a bit later down the line. I expect the same thing to happen here, which is why i understand the need for scorched earth tactics. Since otherwise it will be normal in a year. shitstorm or none, all it change is the moment and then it moves back onto the track.
Good point, but literally everything moves back on the track without a motivated, coherent core, which didn't exist in the Skyrim debacle. All we had back then was a rabble of annoyed customers who figured one or two embarrassments were enough for the games industry to exercise better judgment.
In a sense, this is less about what the games industry notices and more about what normal people notice and support, because they are the battering ram.
Also, we often talk about the punitive culture used to keep libs in line, but they do a hefty amount of lovebombing as well. Neil Druckmann's cringy ramblings weren't applauded by Anita Sarkeesian (in the flesh!) for nothing.
Absolutely this. This is the entire reason we plead with creators to not do woke shit in their popular stuff- the only people it actually appeals to do not support your industry to begin with, and the oversaturation of that shit is actively chasing away your biggest fans.
We can't become that and expect to be taken seriously.
Never played the game, likely never will.
But great job on trying to get your own personal army! :)
The much larger problems are still present. Anybody that only got mad over the account faggotry is already weak. The game is infested with cancer in every sense but the core gameplay.
Yeah, now get rid of the fucking root level anticheat
