By the definition given, wouldn't this make most Japanese citizens chuds or chud-adjacent? And wouldn't that be considered a national insult? Fire everybody.
They are already subverted, it is only a matter of time they welcome in shitskins with rainbow drapery
They care about the money, and pleasing the (((west))) brings them tons of it.
I can't even conceive the idea of being offended by the word "chud". It's such a limp-wristed, soy-sucking thing to say. It's [the] epitome of reddit language. Anyone who uses "chud" unironically is just a loser.
Its just another in a long line of Leftist insults trying to copy the successful insults used against them. Problem is that its both empty (because it never means anything) and can't offend any of their protected classes (so its toothless), leaving it sounding limp as all this.
I don't think anyone is actually offended by this word being used here, rather its offensive that they were so politic-brained they'd just throw it in a game's localization.
Always force your enemies to play by their own rules.
If calling someone 'nigger' is a good enough excuse in their mind to get murdered, I don't mind treating them the way they want to treat me.
The word isn't offensive and carries no weight, but the people who use it want to see my entire family get killed and replaced by Africans and Guatemalans, so I'll gladly pretend it's a slur if that's what it takes.
"chud" is the new "fascist", it makes people chuckle because of how weak it is
for this reason I find it hilarious as a reclaimed word, much like "nigger".
The thing they don't get with slang, is (as they love to mention) language evolves.
"Wow chud" will seem just as dated and ass-backwards-sounding as "gee wilikers" down the timeline. The language that doesn't evolve much, that has reached a plateau in its evolution, is far superior for any work that you intend to have any lasting impact at all in its original spirit and intention.
Of course, these localizers AIM to have the work ruined and destroyed, so of course they put #CurrentYear soon-to-be-anachronisms into it. They actively hate the medium, the product, the company, the audience, all they do is hate.
I was wondering the other day why entertainment has always used trendy slang that immediately dates the product. You pointed out an early example (though gee willikers was apparently common for decades before TV era) but it shows up in all eras. Even for current slang it's grating and obvious to us, and we wouldn't use the language unless we wanted the character to sound stupid. Why do the professional writers? If you want to sound casual, why not use slang that's been consistently used for a long time so has a better chance of sticking for a while? (i.e. "cool")
All I can figure out is entertainment writers are very stupid people run by short-sighted execs who want to appeal to the "modern audience" NOW, damn the consequences. But mostly stupid writers as seen here in localization. They may not actually have any awareness of time and culture. People around them use chud. It's a normal word. What's the problem you stupid boomer?
One notable exception was Star Trek, which always intentionally tried to avoid slang because they didn't want their sci-fi about the future to sound dated - until Bad Robot/Kurtzman mixed stupid writers into the product and here we go again.
Learn Japanese, not to play your favorite games in their original format, but to once again witness the artistry of language once English has been subsumed into nothing but an unintelligible hodge podge of political buzzwords, ebonics, and zoomer slang.
And then wonder why the fuck they have characters that require like 13 strokes just for one syllable that isn't even the whole word. Kanji is a nightmare.
Eh, they have their pros and cons.
At the end of the day, having a deck of 2000 characters to memorize isn't really that much when you consider how difficult learning a language is, and it gives you a really straightforward framework that gives you a ton of clues later in your learning.
On the other hand there are a ton that look way to similar to each other.
I still stand by my conclusion that Japanese isn't that much harder than other non-romance languages, it's just front loaded.

Brute: an extremely strong and imposing individual who is also very headstrong, often simple minded.
Chud: a derogatory term for an American who leans right politically
these two words have completely different meanings, to the point where I think the localizer might actually be retarded. I can imagine them thinking any and all insults are synonymous, and that it would apparently be grammatically correct to also localize the word as "dumb dumb poopy face!"
