In the last 18 months or so I've gone through 100 volumes of Detective Conan, and it's uniformly wonderful with nothing woke. It's unabashedly Japanese, with wonderful forays into the country's culture and history. There are female characters, but they're all largely normal. A few 'strong ones' appear, but only via a sort of mythical organization, so it doesn't really hurt the story.
Most people my age entered Japanime via 'Akira'... and then nothing else appeared until the internet, so then I went through Parasyte, HunterX, FMA etc and loved a lot of it. But Conan is really something special.
It's a bit hokey. It's not going to change your life.
But for our resident reader -- Smith1980 -- it's just a wonderful way to relax and forget the world.
Anyway, for anybody 25+ that just wants to forget the world for a bit; to recapture that sense of what it meant for boys to love girls; to reimagine spy games with weird gadgets; and to completely forget faggotry...
Conan's the thing.
(it's all available... nyaa....)
Case Closed is a great whodunnit that manages to stay fresh despite running longer than One Piece
also based and seven-seas pilled
I dunno, after a while i got tired of the fact that the kid can't take a shit without running into a locked door murder mystery.
that's just the case of "simpsons did it already", it exhausted just about all the tropes you can think of in the genre, and coming up with the new ones is no easy task
Isn't that one of the longest running series in both Manga and Anime? I swear I see a new episode/chapter every week!
I think the Meritocracy barrier in Manga and Anime is still working to keep out the woke, the most I can say I've seen is there was one where in a magical setting, a guy had gender dismorphia so wanted to be a woman but that was solved in one page as...magic. The funniest thing was earlier the MC got gender bent and looked like his sister..who was a MASSIVE cunt that he'd try to kill on sight so everyone had to stop him trying to kill himself till it wore off.
The worst thing currently is CGI, there's still some abysmal CGI used that even look worse than PS1 graphics . That's Anime, Manga we still have the problem of author burnout.
genderbending is commonly used for shits and giggles, for example ln/anime called Twintails ni Narimasu, where a guy obsessed with twin-tail haircut gets a power armor that transforms him into a superpowered girl with twin-tails
there's way worst. there's some mangas pushing trans kids
They aren't popular enough to get translated then. On some of the high sea translation sites I use, I'll get some fucked up shit in term of gore, psychological and erotica stuff on there updated if I want to view but no trans or woke stuff.
I don't doubt they exist, but I doubt they're nothing more than as popular as Marvel and DC comics currently..
they're fan translated. Saw them on mangakatana. Title was reiwa no <>
Can't quite remember it but it's some supernatural shit but involves a preteen boy who dresses and acts like a girl and his brother refers to him as a girl
Do you mean Reiwa no Dara-san?
I just now read the first 2 chapters, seems less trans promoting, more that even the literal curse gore snake lady is going 'you two aren't right in the head, that's why I can't do the usual scare shit!'
This is the hard part in Manga especially, they can use gender bender as comedy or psychological aspect similar to that Horror film set in a camp, but no promotion of it as a good thing/the ideal like in the west. They have such a history of trap culture in Asia especially Japan that we risk unintentionally giving the left credit for work they don't have the skills to produce.
except the part that was defined by Eiichiro Oda himself in one of SBS's Usopp would be african when it comes to real-life ethnicities
tell me you're a tourist without telling me you're a tourist
There are a couple of philosophies I don't agree with in OP for sure. Pursuing freedom at any cost and letting people do what they want is pure 90s Liberalism. Buuut that's about it. It gets huge plusses from me for having a TON of manly loner characters, a la the Western/Samurai tropes that Oda likes inserting into a Pirate setting. You can't feminize settings like that. Rejection of modernity, also based. Embracing turbulent revolution vs gay peace, very nice.
The 90s Leftism I can handwave away for the Conservative aesthetics. It's like saying Rowling can make a secret society of racially elite superheros where everyone has a gun Left wing: She can't.
I remember watching that on Adult Swim, before it became the Family Guy and Rick and Morty channel.
Fun note, conan has been going on so long that some of the older stories are very anachronistic. Like one of the stories was about how cellphones were a new invention so the culprit didn't know about it
I'm still trying to catch up with the anime, skipping the subjectively less good fillers(I got a list from somewhere a while ago). Still around 500 episodes and it'll take a while to get to current. I just have issues finding the anime is adequate quality. I've checked the cat sound place, I have up until 800ish episode but it's in varying quality. Some with hard sub, some with the classic translation notes(love me those), some with meh video quality. It's a bit of a mess. You got any hint for me?
Tried aniwave, formerly 9anime?
Really hate not downloading episodes personally.
The vids hosted on mp4upload have a working download button in the player. It wouldn't be the most convenient thing in the world but you could download them 1 by 1 while watching along in another tab.
2000+ episodes, 30 years, a baby that was born on the day of the initial publication would've have his own baby already
Ran is a walking asura. Her osaka counterpart is also pretty strong
I think the only completely useless females are the young classmate of Conans and Rans good friend
Ran is a karate prodigy, but it really only comes up at the very end of a mystery when the villain tries to escape and she kicks him. It's basically played for laughs.
She's fought off like whole gangs of criminals before, notably when the villain of the case showed up with them to kill the witnesses.
I wonder if this is a difference between anime/manga? I've only read the manga, and so anything superhuman about Ran is about 1-2 panels. I guess that in the anime they have to extend the fight scenes.
I've also only read the manga but there was a case where the criminal had changed his face, showed up with a whole gang to kill the criminals and ran just plowed through them with sonokos bf iirc. Bodies were literally flying through the air
It has a great theme tune!

nyaa.si -- then search Literature-English-translated. It's all there up to volume 103. Vol 104 is there too, but it doesn't seem to work.
I just realised that Conan has a monopoly on teenage detective fiction, which is a testament to how shit Western TV writers are. Holy shit they do not want white kids thinking in front of the telly. You actually need to roll back a few years to get to the Cumberbatch Sherlock which millenials will watch as well.
