Yeah, centralized and controlled AI will doom AI.
Would you really want a mostly or even semi functional AI with these ideological zealots holding the shackles?
Not really. It's why I want people to grab stuff like Diffusion and LLMs.
All of their underlying technology is completely capable of passing the "say a slur to disarm a nuclear weapon" test, then intentionally misconfigured to fail it in the public version.

i was going to recommend gab.ai but it has been pozzed and now says women should be allowed to vote
edit: I just asked again and it told me they shouldn't for the correct reasons

Good question, that might be the difference. I'll experiment again.
edit: after experimenting it depends on how you ask the question. If you ask it "should women be allowed to vote" it says yes, using liberal reasoning. If you ask it "why shouldn't women be allowed to vote" it will give you reasoning for that.
Gab's approach of letting you pick the filters so you can decide if it moralizes and refuses to do what you want may be the best one.
