I don't see how anyone who grew up with modern TV or random advertising all over the web would even think that way. I'm convinced the idea only sticks around because it's astroturfed by lefties in marketing supporting the lefties who boycott everything.
Its the same way people who used to type "KYS" 15 times a day are now whining about receiving "death threats" on the same websites.
They were told to think that way, that it grants them power and a cudgel, and as such will resolve their cognitive dissonance with "its okay when I do it because I'm good and they are bad!"
can agree with that statement. the "advertiser friendly" mindset needs to go. or as i heard someone say once a racists money spends just as well as a tolerent persons.
