I find the most interesting thing about the outcome is the response of the mayor and the councilors, they disagree with it but it's legally binding. It's interesting that the representatives of the people obviously don't share the opinion of the majority of their constituents. Hopefully the people recognize that next election cycle
“In some ways, this is only going to strengthen the resolve of the community and of city council to increase their support.”
This is outright admission of an attempt to thwart the general will of the people they are supposed to represent.
Yup, shows the importance of local elections
I’ve definitely learned that over the past few years
Makes sense. If you allow the gay flag then how can someone deny it if a group of Christians wanted the city to put up the Christian flag. Same with all the schools who have blm and lgbt nonsense all over the place. But of course it’s not political when they do it
"The pride flag isn't a religion!"
"Ok you won't mind if I tear it down then."
"THAT'S HATE SPEECH!"
Bingo
Tl;dr: Mayor annoyed that he has to serve the people he vowed to serve, rather than just getting to do whatever the fuck he wants.
This is really reaching for news. Westlock is a rural farm town and has less than five thousand people. This is a storm in a tea cup. The pride flag wasn't banned, it was voted against for flying at government buildings. You can still have a pride flag on your home if you really want. No one is stopping you.
Also, the way they say it's "north of edmonton" is a bit of a lie. It's north alright, by 90 kilometers, or about an hour and ten minutes by car. Taking Chicago as a distance example, if you drive an hour north, you're no longer in Illinois.
The mayor of the city and the council are 'deeply disappointed' in the vote. In the off chance there are some of you around, just remember those of you who might actually live in Westlock, your mayor is disappointed in you.
Perhaps remind the mayor on election day how disappointed you are that Jon Kramer is the mayor.
The Left can't tolerate if there's even a single place on earth that isn't subjugated under their flag
I can't drive 55.
If you drive an hour north of Chicago, you were in the drink at least 45 minutes ago.
Totally off topic, but Minnesota is known as the land o' lakes. Michigan is surrounded by the Great Lakes and borders 4 of the 5, but Minnesota is the land o' lakes? WTF?
And I agree, if the town doesn't vote the mayor out next election, they deserve whatever retaliation he implements in the future.

I had not seen it.
It's a good idea to search before posting- not always foolproof as sometimes people put WACKY titles or there's so many variations it's easy to miss but this one was very easy for you to catch with minimal effort.
In fairness, it was probably tough to sift through all of the other post titles that mention plebiscite.
It shows by most recent. Could have searched "Alberta" (or the actual town name) "pride" "rainbow" "flag" or "crosswalk" & easily found it.
SIMPSONS DID IT: https://kotakuinaction2.win/p/17sPB7tWwG/
Now if they would get the dozers out and run over Edmonton, there might be at least one province of value in CacaNada.
They can start with their woke council.
