Ah yeah, the guy that helped inspire Patriotism by the truck load during the Iraq War when it was beneficial to do so to the tune of trillions of lost dollars and wasted American lives, only to turn around and say "nu uh I never supported Iraq, only Afghanistan I was tricked too!!" once it wasn't popular to be pro-war anymore.
The one who bragged about being a lifelong Democrat and not living a conservative life in the slightest, but made sure to grift off and fake it for those who thought he did?
But sure, I guess he made fun music.
I don't know much about him but I agree that retconning dead celebs into saints is really NPC behavior.
Its not even retconning. He has been open about all of those facts since like 2007.
Its people who literally fell for an open and admitted grift for 20 straight years because he said all the words they wanted to hear and then they looked no further at it.
I try to separate art from artist, so it doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the art.
His art was used and intended as a literal call to get people to sign up for a pointless war that he continued to scream about until the moment it stopped making him famous, when he immediately backtracked and pretended he never wanted that. Which of course brought back all the young men who went and died in that war the moment he said "oopsie, sorry guys, I'm not giving the money back though." Its a bit bigger than Mark Hamill being a retard on twitter.
You can enjoy his art all you want, but him as a person should have his grave pissed on. Not lionized as some "True Patriot."
Indeed, so many people have goldfish memory.
This is so sad. Toby was a true American patriot. They played As Good as I Once Was on the radio just now and said RIP Toby Keith at the end of it, and that's how I found out. Remember when the usual suspects got their panties in a twist about Jason Aldean's song about protecting your community from criminals? 20 years ago Toby Keith and Willy Nelson sang about taking all the rope in Texas and stringing criminals up in a tall oak tree.
“Beer For My Horses” is a fun song.
With the stupidest music video I’ve ever seen.
I think Johnny Cash’s song Battered Old Flag would get attacked today or Johnny Yuma.
I’m originally from Oklahoma and it really sucks to see this. I enjoyed his music and loved seeing him at OU games. I’m imagining him in heaven ham king with Wayman Tisdale
Vaxxed?
I'm not sure but he died of stomach cancer.
Fully vaxxed neighbor just had his stomach removed due to stomach cancer.
It's probably coincidence. It sure seems like the rate of coincidences increased after the vax though.
My grandfather also got cancer after being vaxxed but he's also late 80s so really hard to attribute it directly. Fine after chemo though. Another anecdotal data point
Is that one of the cancers you can get checked for and prevent?
Not OP, but not really.
It would most commonly be detected internally by gastroscopy, the stomach equivalent of a colonoscopy.
You don't want to have those regularly without a compelling reason.
Could also be pickup incidentally by a CT scan. But the scans are more likely to cause cancer via the radiation dose than prevent it.
Thanks! A person in Japan just told me they typically do a gastroscopy or esophagogram annually. I guess various countries consider the risk to benefit ratio differently.
It's sort of chicken and egg.
If they actually find precancerous changes on the scope, they'll start repeating it more frequently. Also if you have risk factors - family history, smoking, alcoholic, chronic H. pylori infection/ulcers.
Screening the entire population with scopes though just doesn't scale even if people would tolerate it. It's basically being asked to swallow a garden hose. Not to mention the sedative and perforation risks.
Screening annually is also pretty insane. The average person without risk factors after 50 only gets a colonscopy every decade.
Damn. "Should've Been a Cowboy" was a staple of my childhood. Can't really say I care for much of his music, but 62 is way too young. Dude's a legend. RIP
People don't know he was in the amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died
