His name was originally Michael King Jr, why did they name him after Martin Luther who was famous for writing the book "On the Jews and Their Lies"? Poisoning the well so when people look up Martin Luther 's name they find Michael King Jr instead?

I like this talking point of MLK being one of the "Founding Fathers" of a Nu America, after another revolution. The values of post war America are an explicit repudiation of the values of pre-war America. Modern day conservative civnat types speak of building a nation based on shared values and traditions while endorsing post-war values exclusively. Then they have the audacity to call you a Communist while lionizing MLK. The shit has never made any sense and was always in bad faith.
