I remember coming back to one of my favorite animes, Steins;Gate... little seeds - like consuming Dr Pepper and having sympathy and repeated acknowledgement for what is essentially a crossdressing boy stand out. To western eyes, this is very different synthesis - especially if you were raised in a liberal wonderland.
