I don't think our institutions really begrudged this aspect of soviet infiltration because population control has been on the table since the 60's. I remember a declassified document detailing various methods and the expansion of gay rights and dissolution of the family unit were two suggested methods among others, I believe it was a dossier from a spy if I recall correctly. Coincidentally, it aligns perfectly with the propaganda and positions you see today, it seems the interests of champagne socialists and reds aligned organically enough to worm their way into the 21st century - and after being dormant for some time, they opportunistically took the 2010's.
