The GOP primary electorate is not equal to the general electorate.
Trump did really well with rural base and old boomers today but you can go look at the data and you will see he did worse in the Iowa suburbs than he did in 2020's general election.
Trump romps in the rurals and that gave him the Caucus win. Rurals alone cannot win him the general election swing states.
In 1976 Gerald Ford beat Reagan in the primaries and yet he lost to Jimmy Carter.
Ronald Reagan came back in 1980 and he beat Jimmy Carter in the general.

I provided you an example of where the winner of the GOP primary was a weaker general election candidate than the loser of that primary with Ford and Reagan.
I didn't compare Reagan to DeSantis. Reagan gave illegals amnesty, DeSantis would never do such a thing.
Look at the facts, Trump becoming the nominee and losing to Biden in the general doesn't give anyone cause to celebrate.
