The problem is that actual fansubbing has largely died. Now everyone just does "encoding" to compress the rips from crunchyroll or whatever service is staffed by these cretins, so you still end up with butchered translations.
The only mainstream stuff that gets fansubbed nowadays are Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, and that's mainly because Over-Time Subs/TV-Nihon/etc are very good at what they do and toku as a genre needs it, because no official service has imported either series.
Is there ANY company, western or otherwise, that has employees that DON'T have open disdain and animosity towards their employer's products and customers? Like surely there has to be one company that doesn't look at people who outwardly say "I fucking hate your product offerings and your consumer base" and go "Employee of the century right here, hire this person!"
Sooooo, if the people at the helm of the whole thing are being dipshits, what's stopping someone from attempting to make in roads and build a legit service to bring Japanese entertainment across the Pacific?
If you can't go over, aim for the under. Pair it with an applicable translation service, forgo a certain amount of cash on your end, in return, you do the translation and work on hosting it stateside, guarantee that if you can do a credible job of repping the artist's views you could make headway.
