The problem is that actual fansubbing has largely died. Now everyone just does "encoding" to compress the rips from crunchyroll or whatever service is staffed by these cretins, so you still end up with butchered translations.
The only mainstream stuff that gets fansubbed nowadays are Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, and that's mainly because Over-Time Subs/TV-Nihon/etc are very good at what they do and toku as a genre needs it, because no official service has imported either series.
