I attended a graduation ceremony for George Washington University's medical college.
After the land acknowledgements and lecture about how Covid had been extremely difficult for everyone, but especially the poor brown people and women and gays, the walk was almost all Women of Diversity. Then they took an oath about "I will make sure I perform my duties without bias."
Now granted, most of these people would just end up as administrative types or nurses, but some will go on to be doctors.
Health care is fucked. Hopefully you've already found an older white or Asian male doctor.
I don’t know what it’s like for you guys, but by and large, our doctors are not scientists - they’ve likely taken some bare minimum set of required entry to mid-level science courses as undergraduates - and they’re not researchers. So the doctor telling you with so much certainty to get the jab likely has only the most cursory familiarity with the mechanisms underlying the immune response to SARS-CoV-2, and also hasn’t the foggiest idea how to critically evaluate the methodology and the results of the vaccine trials.
So not actually knowing shit about anything, they just uncritically parrot whatever the dominant authority (CDC, JCVI, Pfizer) tells them, and they think it means something because they wear a white coat and jerked off in med school for a few years.
Doctors are basically 110 IQ white collar auto mechanics.
She was doing dance routines and gestures to music during the actual surgeries. Not sure if you can see it in this vid, but it was like something Jack Nicholson's 'Joker' would do. It was insane.
The only thing really surprising about this is the lack of discretion in uploading media.
Between Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs, the recent Covid social media stupidity, and the increasingly casual work culture (in the US at least), there's little surprise that doctors are becoming less professional. Adding tiktok just increases narcissism or attention-seeking.
There are a couple of TLC shows following medical professionals (podiatric surgeons and a couple of dermatologists). The thing they have going for them is that they have show directors and editors to highlight "good" surgical practice for content.
