These people tie generosity to government. I remember in 2016 so many Bernie supporters acted as if they were moral and righteous for supporting the free stuff campaign. Ask them what they do with their own money to help the poor. Also I think teaching someone to fish is helping the poor more than having them depend on you for a fish everyday
I DEMAND RICH PEOPLE GIVE AWAY THEIR MONEY. I'M A GOOD PERSON!
It's not even "rich" people, it's "anyone besides them."
"we have to go after the millionaires!" - Bernie Sanders
"we have to go after the billionaires!" - millionaire Bernie Sanders
"I am once again asking for your financial support"
They think they are being cheeky here with rich bad, but they are fucking over the person who is producing actual value here.
They discourage learning skills or go under training since it's easier to be a parasite. The fisherman is also punished for catching more fish, and of course, their knee jerk reaction is use cohersion when the fisherman refuses to comply.
So yeah, a very apt metaphor for communism
Sadly that is essentially their message
I agree with you, but if you can turn off the politics, this one's pretty funny.
teach a man to fish, he can feed himself for the rest of his life. give a man a fish, and he will be your slave in order to feed himself.
The argument in the twitter post is worse than that; They're stating that you should be the slave in order to feed someone else. Under threat of violence.
show niggers a fish, they rob you of the fish, and call you racist
Fuckin' raysis-ass cracka muthafugga, dis fish ain't fried! Ain't even ded! pulls Glawk from sweatpants DA FUQ YOU TRYIN' TA PULL ON ME, CRACKA?!?!?!?
Build a man a fire and he can be warm for a night. Set a man on fire and he can be warm for the rest of his life.
Most of the same people who supported Bernie didn't even acknowledge Yang either, despite his biggest platform being a straight up UBI. Probably the largest step forward towards socialism and all its assorted programs we could have taken.
Almost like they don't actually care about the ideology, just the trappings of it. And since Yang was popular with a lot of non-Left people he was verboten.
I can respect Yang. I know Milton Friedman got behind the idea of UBI if you got rid of all other social spending
And eliminate minimum wage, because it's a market distorting price floor, and shouldn't be necessary if there's UBI.
